Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Hi Tokmom

I don't know if you have seen any of my recent posts ,but any help you can offer I am open to. I have been talking with Flames _9 she is awesome. Looking for some insight to the electives I guess the only ones we can take is HLT 300 level classes from what I can make out. Any way I'm thinking I want to take different ones that they are offering me this 308 and 314 class do not look very appealing to me any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I am a guy!!!

Hey old dog,

I can't help with the extra classes. I only had the core to contend with. Flames is the expert on that one.

I do agree to contact someone higher than your advisor to get help. I never had a problem and had my questions answered.

One tip is to buddy up with a fellow AN'r and go through as many classes as you can together. I did just that with a fellow poster. We were in the CLC's together. It was nice to know someone had your back.

I'm going to send you a pm in a sec.

Thanks!

When you say GU, are you referring Grand Canyon U or Western Governers U? And ido you mean it's worth signing up with ANA to get 10% off.? Do you know the current status ofthe school u are referring to since your original post is 3 yrs old? Thanks

Grand Canyon University is GCU.

I do believe it's worth signing up for ANA to get a discount, but that is just me.

The school is alive and well. I get alumni stuff on occasion. I read the campus newspaper, and somewhat follow the sports teams. :) I did read they are thinking of dropping the for profit status and going back to non profit because of the negative association.

I think they dropped the ANA discount awhile back...may have brought it back, doesn't hurt to ask

Hello! I am about to finish my fourth class and am starting Stats next. I am interested in doubling up with it. I have Trends, Patho, Leadership, Ethics, and Nursing Research still to complete in addition to Stats. Which of these would any of y'all recommend doubling up with. Ideally I would like to pair off all of these classes and then do the capstone on its own of course. Are there any y'all would steer me away from doubling. I am a devoted student. I do work three 12 hour shifts a week in the ER and have kiddos but so far I have been completing all my classes with A's and want to try to finish as quickly as possible. Any advice or help even related to good instructors for these classes would be tremendously appreciated!!

Has anyone taken HLT 306V or HLT 307V they look interesting . I'm not really interested in taking the Risk class or the Health Care Systems class. Just finished Spirituality that almost did me in glad it is over. Have Pathophysiology and Capstone left plus the 2 anything classes. I'm in week 2 of the amp 450v class and the instructor takes her 7 days to grade everything and the second part of the assignment I got back on day 8 this is very frustrating. Can someone PM me on the instructors that would be the best for these classes? Thanks in advance!
