  1. Hey, I picked the wrong profession 35 yrs ago. Never happy. hated it actually, the documentation, CYA on paper more important than pts, backstabbing coworkers, unappreciation, long hrs, hazardous work, always a risk for illness and blood borne / body fluids and respiritory pathogens, psych pts attacking nurses, been spit on, *** on, peed on , vomited on, scratched at , yelled at, back injured, all while trying to help pts. on and on. last minute on call supervisors begging you to come in and then playing games and terminating you next day( no I was not at fault) supervisor didn't like that I called him out on errors. on and on. No job is worth your health and well being detriment. They will drain you until nothing left. many obviously like this profession and good thing cuz we need good nurses. I'm not one of them and that is probably the only thing I would do different in my life. Is pick something I love. If you do stuff that you like the $ will come. I was always scraping with nurse pay.; could never pay bills, went bankrupt, . No I did not work in hospital. I hate even going in hospitals. I did agency and school nursing perdiem. even when working full time at this couldnt make ends meet , single mother and high rent. had to pay a ton of taxes as independant contractor . Anyway, so glad retired now, no pension, living on meager SSI . and medicaid. couldnt afford rent so had to live in van and camper for 2 yrs essentially homeless. So lucky now I found at wonderful pet/housesitting rent exchange. And I do additional dog walking , pet sitting in town. I love what I do. Always planned to be a vet since I was a kid, but did nursing cuz it was quicker and have a medical mindset. Happy now with what I do and you can be to. Better to get out of it now and do what you love. Thankyou to all the nurses that this profession is cut out for even though its not for all of us. Dont be afraid to change
  2. You're fine. I always hated floor nursing and facilities especially hospitals. There's so much more than hospitals. The only nursing I. Found tolerable and even enjoyable was school nursing. You can easily go for that. Or home care, public health
  3. I am thankful that all my bodily functions work without the addition of tubes, bags, catheters, etc.
  4. Really?? I've always had NSO since day one of nursing school and throughout career. Just got hired in corrections. I will defiantly have to call them. Do you know what liability insurance does cover a nurse in this setting?
  5. I would've just snuck in some other deodorant that is known to be effective and some nice body soap and stuck it in the toiletry basin nonchalantly, when no one looking
  6. Try home health agencies. Always a need for home visits and pediatric home care. They train trach &vent care
  7. It's not regionally accredited though, which can pose a problem for some. Have you run into any trouble because of that?
  8. I operate similarly to what your saying . just give me the material to study and a test on it. Always did well with that. If it's going to be a wrestling match to find info, well , that's something I don't deal with very well.
  9. Good to know, have pre enrollment interview next week and have transcripts in hand ready to challenge them about courses I took. I mean cmon, with 2 A.A.S degrees in the medical field, it's it doesn't make sense that they will only take 59 credits. If I can't get them to accept at least 20 more transfer credits, I will seriously be thinking about searching other programs that will. If anyone knows of any let me know.
  10. Well, it sounds nuts. I'll give it a shot but after 6 mo if it's too slow going, I'll just switch to another online program... Which one I don't know. So I need a plan B here. Has anyone out there been satisfied with a program they took? Mind you , it's been 20 yrs since I've been in school, I'm doing this not for the lines of it but to open up job opportunities and increase income.
  11. Same here, test taking is great. Writing long drawn out research papers, ugh.. And now in APA, which I never heard of until recently, . And protect models for chem? Which I had 2 chems already ? My kid will be helping me with my homework now
  12. Ok, thanks for your opinion. It's just a little confusing when some say they did the whole program in 9 or 10 months and others were longer, with similar credits. I still don't get why they are only accepting 59 of my previous credits. That leaves me with around 61 credits to do. I will ask them tomorrow. They need to accept more than that
  13. Thanks for your opinion, it helps, I have to call today to finish signing up wish theyd transfr mor of my credits, theyre only giving me half (59)/ Dont know how everyone else seems to get 80 or 90 in
  14. Ok, I already know how I can do that. Thanks
