Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Currently in my 1 of 2 --anything--classes..Prof has stated at least 3 times about no plagiarism...3 times..twice this week....1 dude posts this long reply....word for word a copy/paste!! It is soo obvious it is a cut/paste it hurts..I may send that person an email....his other posts are fine, very good writer..but then why post something thats so obvious a cut/paste??

Thank you to all who posted about their plagiarism experiences. I think that I will just wait until the end of the program and submit something to some "higher up" person...

Stuck in CLC group project _________(fill in the blank - but think of that really, really hot place with the devil!!!). Why does it still shock me that people can get to this point and still not know how to cite/reference stuff? And I am not talking the ins and outs of APA that we all sometimes need to look up. I am talking about basic APA rules or the "oh let me just list references on the Reference Slide but have no corresponding cites." Or, "let me just stick in a bunch of facts but have absolutely no citation to back them up."

Tried to stay really laid back with this group project but here I am again trying to rewrite and fix others' garbage because I am too embarrassed to put my name on this thing. Plus, of course the person who assigned tasks and outlined how we would proceed did not take into account half of the stuff on the rubric.

Has anyone ever gotten anything less than an "A" on one of their group projects? I literally have 100% in this class and can obviously afford a bit of a hit - and am so tempted to be done with this garbage and just submit it. Tired of making "suggestions" (which is me trying to nicely point out errors or ask people for cites since I am the editor/person submitting). Tired of typing posts stating we are missing critical stuff from the rubric. Tired of being tired of these group projects! HaHa

Please break my leg and then shoot me to put me out of my misery like a racehorse!!

Thanks for allowing me to vent.

I had a long email to the prof written up today to send off about plagiarism.....but decided to hold off.....

Think the lowest mark I got on a group project was just over 93%...the leader of the group wasn't overly organized...not that I'm a genius--far from it...but we had 1 major issue...we had no PICOT statement and the work was suppose to be based on that! lol at the end he made up a picot statement, but really had nothing to do with our presentation......was a very poor presentation..but 1) I to had 100%, so not that concerned...2) I stated my piece about it the crappy work..no 1 cared..3) I knew the prof marked easily.........so why get worked up?? But if it had been a prof that marked harder.....Like I say..it is just a game, lol Hang in there.....I start my 2 of 2 "anything" classes on Monday..HLT 314..I pray their is no group project...but I bet there is!!

Thanks Flames!!

I know - no one ever cares when you point out that the project stinks but they are the ones who put the crap together in the first place, so there you go! I usually get, "I think the power point is great." Well, define "great." Haha

Good luck with your last "anything" class. No group project???!! Wake up - you are dreaming...

I guess I should see what HLT 314 even is,lol.......Healthcare systems...Content is designed to impart an understanding of the forces shaping the present and future health care delivery system...Good times!!

LOL!! It's like naked and afraid!!! So funny.

Yeah, I agree - kinda like Naked & Afraid... you get dropped off in an unfamiliar place in the middle of nowhere (class), naked (no preparation or quality book/tools). You just plow through each day (assignment) and hope for the best that you can make it to the extraction point (Sunday week 5)!!!

Congrats on almost being finished with the prgram! :w00t:

Question... was there a class that you guys enjoyed the most? I am almost done with the first class lol yay!!! I need something to look forward to!!

Did you guys ever use Skype or did you ever have to make a video? I'm hoping that's a no on both but whaddayagonnado if I have to!

xx

THAT is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For what it is worth Ro, I have, but only because they copied my work. She remained in the class and showed up later in Spirituality. When it came time to get my paper back from the fellow student. There was her name. It only caused me grief I believe.

Gotta an A- in one class. We came very close to a B. We had an APA mistake and didn't indent a paragraph. Spirituality seems to hand out lower grades.

I hear of people needing a higher grade or failing.

No Skype, but lots of texts and IM, lol.

My favorite class? Probably the capstone. I was able to put everything I learned into my paper.

Oh, no video for me, but a ton of PowerPoint. I loved those!

Yep, already finished my first margarita. Submitting my final stuff for ethics but still have to call my advisor and tell her I am not taking Spirituality right now. Better do this before the second or third margarita...cocktail-3606.gif

Just don't get my professor, or you will need those margaritas!

I can't believe all the stuff I have heard about Spirituality. You would think it would be well... uplifting!! Just curious are the Prof. Nurses or Theologists? :( will you PM me who your Prof is? LOL
