Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

I rarely read DQs, people say the same stuff over and over and over. Little disappointing that some just copy/paste for DQs.....Some are so obvious, it is obvious that the profs don't read them. Makes you wonder what their papers look like? I will make mention of that in my final review.

Yes, I will have a lot to say in my final review as well. In my last two classes I have seen a weird thing happen in the DQ forums. Someone will provide a initial post and then another classmate will respond by insinuating the original post was wrong and then just restating the original post as a correction. Don't know if it is just happening to me but it is getting under my skin. It is like no one reads the entire post and just plops something down.

I can't say I spend that much time on the discussion posts, but I do make a real effort to provide responses that contribute to a discussion.

majority of posts I have found, they just mimic what the original poster stated.or say, oh-ur sooo right...great post, lol I do my thing, provide real info, experiences..sources...and don't worry about others..I know my 4.0 is earned....

I am in Health Assessment now and could not agree with you more! I would much rather write a paper than the load of busy work given! I've got a lot of other stuff I could be working on. You can only reply to the discussion questions in so many ways after a while! lol However, I do try to bring my own information and links to different resources in the response. There is definitely a great deal of "re-hashing" that goes on in some of the posts.

Oh wow!! That is insane! I knew they had group projects but I was thinking just a few classes! Thanks for the warning!

LOL @bleeding ulcer! Thanks for the website I will check it out. :)

Hey sorry guys another question. I am new to ebooks. I have never opted for them I would buy the book. So I feel like it's really going to be strange. I don't think I want to read off my laptop. Any tablet suggestions? Or should I just stick to like a Amazon reader with the no glare? My 90 year old Great Aunt used an e-reader but I so love books in my hand! lol

I purchased a Kindle Fire 7" (I think that is the size) to read my books at work and when I am away from my computer. It works fine, but I find myself doing most of the reading from my computer. I do like the ebook search feature. After I read I always forget where a particular topic or part of a paragraph was. I search for it and BINGO!!! I can reference it quickly. Works for me.

I hate ebooks as well, but I have found it works well. The classes are only 5 weeks and you don't read the whole book so I don't think that I would purchase the hard copies... Just my opinion.

Thanks so much! There are a few nurses that have been reporting nurses who do homework in there downtime so I didn't want to whip out a laptop. You're right I will probably get used to it! I only took the free intro class. I think I just need practice using it. :) Thanks again Rob

I used a kindle for on the road. It worked well. Otherwise my laptop.

I'm a real book person too

Oh, I felt the same! However, I got used to it. I downloaded the Bookshelf app to my Samsung tablet and to my android phone. I am satisfied that I can read the book on either device and (if I have an inthernet connection of course) it will take me to the page where I left off on ANY device.

The only book I had that was hard copy was the useless stats book. I mean the stats book. ;) With a hard copy, I was able to write in the book itself.

I just read the books on my computer......got used to it...and to be honest..1 can do the homework without even using the books..yes in some classes they come in handy!!
