What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

For those of you who have done your Capstone, how long was your conclusion....mine is on the skinny side, okay anorexic. I have not one word left in me! I'm trying to get my appendices in and because of the header it is messing with my pretty work. This is me --->  :cautious:  :angrybird3: :angrybird9:

My conclusion was two short paragraphs. What messed me up royally when putting the final bad-boy together was that all of my previous papers (that you're supposed to be able to just 'insert" and be done with it, yeah right) all had their own Intros and Conclusions. Where do those go?? So I used each paper's Intro under that section's first-level heading, and then took all those Conclusions (4 of them I think), and morphed them all into one final Conclusion at the end. That way it kind of had sentences in it that harkened back to various parts of the paper.

Google is a wonderful thing. I'm so glad I am not the doctoral students having a come apart like they were where I found the answer. So the answer is you turn them into a PDF and them smack them on your paper. Be gone troublesome header. I think my paper may be done!!!! I'm going to look that bad boy over one last time. Day of school tomorrow and put a cap on me!!! Btw? Those two papers that need to be sent to GCU can you do it the day after school is over? Or does it have to be handed in before I lose my golden slipper?

You have two weeks from last day of class to submit those forms :)

What forms are those??

I am fairly active in my color forum right from day 1. I keep asking people for their input..put down deadlines..keep asking for input.....Ask how everyone is doing, lol That way no 1 can say I was not involved or trying....Prof can see that, and see that the slackers were not. I still need 2 more classes after capstone...anything without a CLC,lol

Basically the same here. Tried to lay low the first couple of days hoping someone else would take the reins. That worked well.......NOT!!

There are two forms: Capstone Consent and Capstone Review. The consent form you sign that basically says 'this is my own work, I didn't swipe it from anywhere", and the review form is something you have a manager/leader in your workplace sign after they have read your Cap paper. Within 2 weeks after last day of class you have to submit your Cap paper in its entirety plus those two forms to the university as attachments to two different email addresses that they provided.

My Prof had it all detailed out in her Announcement, I haven't looked at the syllabus, maybe its in there? If not, PM me and I will send them to you :)

That stinks, but I understand where you are coming from.

Could you do your part, post it, and tell them to figure out the rest?

That's exactly what I was going to say. IFFFF I had to do it/them over again, knowing what I know now, I would probably do the outline (I always did them anyway), break it up into 4 (or 5, depending) clearly defined pieces for folks to divvy up, pick the piece I wanted to do, DO IT real quick, and post the outline and my completed piece in the color forum and call it a day. And, as I'm calling it a day, be clear about the fact that I'm done (I may even throw in there that I will be out of town and out of wireless-range the weekend it is due), and "here you go!" That way no one will be waiting for you to swoop in at the last minute and finish the whole thing; they will know that you're out of the loop and one of them has to do it if they all want a grade.

Yes this is what I should do but I am still retaining hope. I started a new conversation on the color forum about a topic (we still haven't picked one). I told everyone "post the topic of your literature search and we can pick one of these to go forward with." Two people posted their topic but said they liked mine better.

Off topic ----> I am amazed that these other nurses were so wishy washy about a topic; stating more than one unrelated topic for the search.... I found it strange.....

Anyway I am looking for someone to step up and combine everything into one project. Once this person emerges then I will post a assignment list and do my part and be done. I will take 4 of the slides to everyone else's 2 .... Why so many? Because it is my topic and I am doing a PICOT for the other assignment anyway and I will be able to cut and paste most of the introductions from my previous papers for the introduction and problem statement of our project. It will look as if I did a whole lot, but it was just completed smarter!!!

I hope this is my last CLC ...... Oh heck, I have one in ethics also!!!!!!

I am shaking my head over here. I did message the instructor. She put out a general notice on the forum reminding everyone to check in to groups. Amazing all but one has surfaced. Now surfacing, does in no way imply doing it intelligently. OMG.... was just shaking my head as one of the gals said "do research/gather info and submit to group for review", and nothing else. Really???? There are six freakin articles - one for each of us if I count right.

Don't want to make your day any worse, but the Ethics CLC is a spread out over 2 weeks! Your group has to agree on an ethical dilemma and put together papers in weeks 4 and 5. It involves interviews which are incorporated into the paper and then you will write another paper on your interview. It gets a little complicated so just be aware early on that there is a project that will require effort on everyone's part. I am breathing much easier now that I am done with that class and in my last week of Spirit.

Ohhhh I think we should change your name, at least temporarily, to ray-of-sunshine. ;)
