Members are discussing the accreditation and acceptance of BSN and MSN degrees from GCU in different states, particularly focusing on the requirement of a preceptorship for BSN programs. There are concerns about certain states not accepting GCU BSN degrees, while others share experiences with the capstone course and offer tips for scholarly activities. Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.
Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.
Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.
Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.
Ugh! That can be frustrating JRich. I hope that your schooling experience gets better for you. This discussion board has been amazing in regards to helping to answer many of my questions.
I work in a NICU here in Phx, AZ! I am loving it and learning some much needed valuable information. Are you loving your experience in TX?
Hi jbates, I love my working experience down here. I am so in love with the NICU. I learn so much at work, and I feel like I am really doing something to help. I won't stay in Texas though. I am a Yankee and I don't think I belong in Texas. Great experiences here though. I have learned a lot here. Met some amazing people too
Thank the heavens above for a class with no group project. Lol! I don't have to take stats, so I am completely grateful for that gift. :-)I am finishing up my 4th class: NRS-427V (Concepts in Community & Public Health. I will begin NRS-433V (Intro to Nursing Research) on 2-10. Any suggestions for my upcoming research course?
Also, I just had this new course pop up on my schedule; HLT-324V Transcultural Health Care. No mention of it from my advisor or counselor. Hmm... This would put me at 12 courses, rather than the 11 courses that I was told about when signing up. I have emailed my contact to see what that is all about. Hoping that it is something that can be tested out of.
Research teaches you how to write and dissect research papers. You will have to do some critiques on qualitative and quantitative studies and develop your PICO. It's not bad, just dry.
As for the other class. I was always under the impression you needed 12 classes and if you had one less, they found you another one.
Hi Flames,
How is stats? You have been very quiet.. :)
Stats sucks. I know, not Flames, but sucks either way*L* I bombed my first excel sheet And, I only have 11 classes :/
You can find a lot of good help for stats on youtube or google. There is a teacher there that helped and posted videos about a lot of the excel worksheets. She just used different numbers but it helps so you can plug in the numbers that you really have.
Stats keeps you busy!! Our prof has stated numerous times--no cheating, plagarisim, over and over!! I wil be happy when it is over----3 weeks off....and then to research!!
Do you know what I would search for on youtube?
khan academy statistics - YouTube Khan academy statistics is one--not sure if thats the 1 she is talking about
Those are the ones they have on our website, right? He's tough to follow for me.
