Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Thanks for your ideas. That's why I love this site! I do think I am the leader by default as you said. I was spoiled by my other groups as we equally shared the load and each of us were interested in doing the best possible job on the presentation. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one!

That is definitely the downside. There were times, in all fairness to my past CLC buddies, that some did not understand the assignment and waited for others to post something first, lol. Obviously not all, but enough to make me not pitch them all off the cliff at once, lol.

CLC project due next Sunday and one group member has gone MIA.... Glad I decided not to be the default leader on this one. Feel bad for the others though...

No, no work as of yet and I have seen no message from her and many messages from our "leader". I will wait till tomorrow night and offer to do a power point page to help if necessary. Even though I have things planned and got my information in 5 days early I can't let the others suffer. I have time to do one or maybe two pages for them if need be. The other two will have to do the other three.

I hope she/he pops out of the wood works!

Are you sure she didn't drop? Is her name still in the roster? I remember waiting forever for a student and sending some not-so-nice texts before I was finally told by the instructor (after I asked) that she was history. Has she posted any DQ replies this week?

She hasn't dropped, she still posts on the forum. Her posts are always late in the weekend so I am hoping she has worked on the powerpoint Sunday and has it done. Will look tonight and see. I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt because as nurses we are always busy. But, please respond to emails asking how things are going. There wouldn't be so many if they would respond to one of them.....

In my last group the girl that was late to the party...her feedback for the CLC summary boiled down to less chit chat in the forum. Really? She posted her info once, her ? About what is going on, and response to my "what are we going to do with her part of the assignment? That got a response..

I took 6 months off from the program..was nice, lol but back at it again!! Good old group projects--suck!! Luckily the religion course does not have any! I always tried taking the lead.....I would email everyone ASAP and 99% of the time they responded---but there always seems to be 1 that can't take 30 seconds and reply back......and you don't heard back for days and days! I do wait awhile, then I email the prof and ask what 1 is suppose to do..... One can't wait forever to get a response back....and yes everyone is busy, but I'm not paying $1600 a class to babysit others, lol But for the most part I have lucked out with great fellow students! Only once did I have a guy never respond....and I had a heads up about him from another that was with him the previous class..luckily he just dropped the class....but didn't have the decency to tel us---and he had posted the first week, so was not as if he never showed up......Good luck!!

ohemgeee Flames, :spnngwlcm: BACK!!! Are you all rested? Where all have you been, you globetrotter you? Do tell, I need to imagine being somewhere other than my dining room table and the back patio! (I think I've put 1,000 miles total on my truck this year...) Are you going to plow through the rest of the classes or take some more breaks? How many do you have left? Good to have you back

I left Nicaragua Mid May...flew to DC...then rented a car and me and the 2 dogs drove to Rhode Island...Where we spent the summer being a bum with the inlaws!! I should have kept going with school instead of being a slacker! Wife joined us for a bit then she went off to our next post--which is Quito Ecuador.....Spent some time in Canada with my dad, saw my sisters (Mom passed away from a brain AVM Jun 2012).....Myself and the 2 dogs drove to Tampa and chilled there for a bit then we flew here at the end of Sept.....So a very mellow summer with a fair bit of traveling..... Love Quito..It is at 9300 ft, so some altitude issues..weather is awesome..low temps are mid 40s and the high is only like 75F..love it!! Even have a small ice rink so get to play hockey!! I actually had the RN job at the Embassy here...but flunked the Spanish exam, lol My own fault, real no excuse..but I know of 1 gal that grew up in a Spanish country and speaks Spanish and only got a level 2...which is the level required...so my chances may have been slim anyways, lol! In Nicaragua they dropped the language requirement..but not here.....Not a huge deal...I am working harder on my spanish and back in School..with good old Religion.....and not being a religious person....Lets just say its a different class...but still stuff one can find useful....if one actually had time to chat with ur patients, lol I'm sure I will take a few breaks....I may double up after this class..as 1 does have a break over Xmas to get ahead....We shall see...I think I have 4 nursing classes left and then 1 other non nursing one......I would have been done now if I had not slacked off...ouch!~!! lol
