Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Yay! I thought the last week was the easiest. I hope it's the same for you. It was so nice to get that class behind me and move forward. It was like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

I think I will feel the same way once the class is done. STATs is the reason it took me so long to finally commit to this program. I was terrified of failing it.

Yep!! I know the feeling.

It's encouraging to hear that, I'm starting Stats on Monday. I'm like you, it took me a long time to go back to school because of stats, I tried taking it by itself twice, failed one time, dropped it the other time. So I'm terrified, I did get the instructor that many recommended on this forum. Sending in my pp for community health soon, So I can have tomorrow off before stats on Monday. Good Luck!

I want to know too not in class for another week.

Here is what ethics teacher said we should cite lecture notes:

Keep us posted!

Howdy all,

I thought I would get caught up on posts here since I don't feel like writing the paper I meant to start an hour ago. I am in week 2 of Family Centered Health Promotion and it is going so much better than the first class. The instructor is involved and my CLC group seems to have their poop in a group. In fact, we have a Type AAA who has already done the CLC agreement and an outline with 3 completed slides for our CLC ppt that isn't due til week 5! Instead of having a panic attack I made be able to just skate by lol! I plan to do my part tomorrow and it looks like we will have it completed way before week 5. Yay!

Isn't it nice when that happens?

Unfortunately having the opposite problem with my CLC group. The agreement is due tomorrow and I can't get everyone to complete their tasks, even with gentle prodding. I may have to get a little harsh by the end of today if I don't hear from them :(

That's when I assigned people. First I would fire a warning shot over the bow. I'd let people know that if I didn't hear from them by X amount of time, I would assign them their parts. ;)

I agree wtih tokmom. Do you have their cell phone numbers to send texts out? When I did this, I also made a forum entry (for the instructor to see if proof becomes necessary later) something like, "I have sent each of the team members a text reminding all that the CLC entries must be completed and submitted by tomorrow. Please complete your portion and reattach here, I'll be happy to submit the completed document for us but it must be back here by ___. If there are still blanks, I'll do my best to be fair with distribution of assigned tasks. Thanks!"

The unfortunate part about this is that you will have positioned yourself as the default Team Leader, which sets the tone from here on out that if there is rampant apathy, you will fix it. And, as you are experiencing now, some people just wait for that tone to be set and take advantage. I feel for you. Hopefully they all just had a busy week and the submissions will come flooding in today (fingers crossed)
