Additionally, there is mention of GCU transitioning back to a non-profit status and the impact of this change on students.

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

I'm curious when many of you will be starting the capstone?

I'm curious when many of you will be starting the capstone?

Should be so time in late March or early April for me depending on how many weeks I end up doubling up on classes

Hi JRich, I know it's been a while for you I'm in community heath now, I'm having a hard time researching information for the CLC on community health assessment pattern. Where do you find information about a community's elimination, nutrition patterns? Can anyone point me in the right direction.

April or May for me.

Alright, I'm joining in on the thread! Hello everyone! I finally committed myself to GCU's RN-BSN program. I have just a few more questions- I don't need stats but I need a filler course and was interested in taking one of the 'get college credit'. Does anyone have any suggestion on which UL exams are not too difficult? Also- I've heard about some sort of discount or grant in the winter? Anyway- Professional Dynamics starts on November 10th!

Not JRich, but most of us here have done this ppt, so hopefully a few more will chime in. For the Nurtition part, our team went with the nutritional status of the community - like the obesity rate, the rate of nutrition-related diseases (rise in Type II DM in the past decade?), availability of discount food programs with support services (food pantries, etc.), healthy food choices in school lunches, etc. Just basically what is the overall nutritional status of the community and what (if anything) is the community doing about it?

Ahhhh, the Elimination slide.... LOL. I wasn't tasked with this on my team because I couldn't figure out if they wanted to know the eliminaton patterns of the residents (?!) or the elimination patterns of the town (again, ?!) The person who did this slide focused more on the environmental health concerns of the town, and hit on points such as the sewage system, water treatment plants, mosquito-fogging in the summer, pollution, etc. Not sure that exactly fit what they were asking for but we got a great grade overall. Honestly, Google is your pal for this one, just keep typing in stuff and see what pops up:

Nutritional status of Acornsville. Obesity rates in Acornsville. Food pantries in Acornsville. School lunch program in Acornsville. You get the idea, eventually you will stumble across the info you need. I remember city-data.com being helpful for my part but can't remember what all else that site offers. Good luck!

welcome.gif Hi Drea!!! I just wanted to say hi because I have nothing else to offer from your post questions :( Good for you that you don't have to take stats! I personally don't know what filler/UL courses/exams are cause I'm the traditional core-12, and I'm not aware of a winter grant or discount (I'd ask your advisor directly on this one). So again, no help at all, but Hi!

Prism- A welcome was actually very helpful! Thank you! Seriously AN was insanely helpful when starting my nursing program originally and then now has proved very helpful with figuring out where to go for RN-BSN. Where are you in the program? If you have any suggestions on instructors to avoid or take i'll gladly accept. Also- what should I expect in this first course and how do I make an A? I'm working full time and moving onto nights during that time so i'm a little worried about the time commitment i'll need to make.
