Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Some of the best profs I had started out with a big Plagiarism and APA warning......Wish more did that! Always seems to be at least 1 person that majority of their posts are simply copied and then pasted...right from the article!! Profs need to stop that ASAP...if you can't respond to a DQ in your own words...you don't deserve to get a passing grade!! I think all DQs should be submitted to Turintit.....

I completely agree; DQs should be run through TII (and Google'd, frankly, because that always shows up more than TII anyway since that's where they found it!) I would go so far as to say that any paper with a Plagiarism Fail (even self-plag) ought to receive a zero; returned with a copy/paste directly onto one's paper with the comment "I found this sentence here (with link attached) on a Google search, appears you attempted to pass this off as your own as any citation to the original author is noticeably absent". That would weed out the cheaters in class #1, week #1.

The 75% for incorrect reference formatting (aka italics vs. non, date order, etc) is a bit harsh though, and profs are not permitted to stray from the rubric.

I wonder if that Prof meant "75% of the 3% allowed for the Reference/Citation section of the rubric" ? That would be 75% off of the 3%, resulting in 2.25% off the total paper, which for a 100 point paper one would still end up with a 97.75% overall grade if the other rubric sections were satisfactory?

That would be appropriate and acceptable, IMO.

She was probably just trying to sound tuff!! Turnitin I found scores low....1 guys long post in AMP450 was word for word from the article..not a single word of his own....Turnitin scored it as 45% similarity!! What makes me laugh is then fellow students respond by saying great post, lol

in HLT 317...have a guy that just goes around saying great post, then asks u a question.....whats with that?? How about you give your own 2 cents then maybe I will reply, lol

There are many issues with GCU about their classes. Now that I have been around for a while I see so many problems and solutions but who at GCU will listen? In the scheme of things I am just a student with money to spend. I just want to be done because once again I do not like many of my classmates (like nursing school). Frustration is a daily problem.....

"Where's my ribbon you... you... you... Instructor Lady you!??!"

YEAH HUH, IT WAS SUBSTANTIVE, NOW GIVE ME MY RIBBON!

I wish they would use them..I found about half of the profs did, half did not!!

Did anyone have a Capstone prof that waited the full week to post grades? The waiting is really tough! Hopefully she will post soon

Heck no. Three days max

Tokmom

My prof waited 6 days. It was torture. I didn't submit my other work until I knew what my grade was on my previous work in case I needed to make any changes. Oh well, this too shall pass....

All this talk about grades is really stressing me today. I handed in a paper tonight that I was not happy with. My heart wasn't in it and I was not satisfied with it. This was the latest I have ever been with an assignment. I just need to be done.

She posted grades 10 minutes before the 1 week deadline and I got a perfect score.... Maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought, but I do know it isn't a perfect paper.... I guess take it and run....
