Any chance you would help me thru the first couple of papers? Winter?

Get signed up for a tutoring session, they are free. I had to completely re-write my very first paper. I know the student helping me was aghast, yes it was really and truly was that bad. Call your counselor, have him/her walk you through how to get signed up, then the student will call you and away you go. I can't find my nose right now with all the interviews, calls from the new boss, etc, trust me, you do not want my kind of help. I read through one of my husband's papers the other night and at the end I said...this looks familiar. I totally had the wrong paper to critique! You will do fine, and you will be surprised as you go along how much better you will get at the paper writing.

I was attempting to post something last night, not quite sure what I said, it didn't have a bad word in it or anything. The post didn't go thru. I thought maybe I said something that got censored? lol! IDK, must have been a fluke!

Writing has never been a strong point for me. I actually hated writing papers!! Now, I just take the instructions for each paper and sort out what the instructor is requiring. Yes, sometimes it is a little confusing, but after reading it over several times it will usually become clear. If not, that is where this site becomes the most valuable bookmark you will have! Just ask if you have questions. We have all been there, believe me! After the first paper, you will see that it really isn't that bad. PERRLA has saved my life, so I highly recommend it! I use Write Check to check for plagiarism and it will also check for grammar errors. You can do this!!!

I don't think they censor anything on this site. Sometimes my posts get lost.

APA is a lot about headings and placement plus other subtle things. Look on Owl Purdue for help. They have excellent examples. Look at those first and if you get stuck let us know. :) I'd be more than happy, but I'm not an APA guru.

I agree with the others, I think many posts get lost in cyberspace. This happens to me a lot and I think it is usually something with my laptop or internet connection. Right now I am having problems with my Kindle fire and Facebook, I will make a response and press post but it just disappears. At first it looks like it posts but I come back later and it isn't there. This irritates me because I think I am extremely witty and the world should hear what I have to say......

Owl Purdue, PERRLA, and the GCU learning center and resources are invaluable. Once you do two or three papers you will get in the groove. Once you get to the middle of the program you will be able to crank out papers. I hated writing papers in the beginning but now I would prefer it to anything else. Funny... Questions, ask here. You will get help, may not be the precise help you need but you will get a response.

I also use this book for nearly every paper: Amazon.com: A Writer's Reference (9780312601430): Diana Hacker, Nancy Sommers: Books

It gives good examples and helps with grammar, punctuation, etc. I don't remember paying this much for it in school , so the price must fluctuate. I think it is worth it.

In regards to how APA paper should look like. I downloaded the GCU template and worked in that exact document. They have all formatting done for you, just paste your info and the text of the paper itself. They are pretty good at instructions in this template.

Dear allnurses GCU community! :)

My next classes are going to be Ethics, Leadership and Trends. Any advice on professors? Good or bad. I will greatly appreciate your help! I am in Spirituality now and have the professor that was highly recommended from this forum - I am very satisfied. Thank you guys!!!!

Now, next three classes. For Ethics I have one really good recommendation, but I cannot catch this professor... Maybe you will suggest someone else from personal experience? And, for Trends and Leadership too. Thanks in advance to everyone, who will PM me!!!!

So I had my first meltdown. I purchased PERRLA. Was downloading and it asked to link to Word. My Word was GONE! I know I had office, where did it go? So I rummaged thru several drawers, breaking into a sweat, found the Product Card from when it was installed, re-installed. Whew. I don't know what Office costs anymore, but I am sure it is not cheap.

Goes to show how long it has been since I have written anything. I did a resume about 2 years ago. I can't imagine purposely deleting it!! Oh well, it's back. I had myself a glass of Sat evening wine to recover!! lol!
