Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I am not being smug, "trust me", but from what I have read about PEERLA, it is how we were taught to create papers in HS... but remember, I AM OLD!

No clue on how u were taught in HS....And yes I paid for PERRLA....I loved it....It asks you what type of paper u want (APA, MLA) and it sets up the title page and the rest of the pages for you in the proper APA 6th edition format. The only part they leave in ur hands, is selecting the source style..ie Journal, book, webpage with author, no author.....Very easy to figure that out. So it sets up the citation and the Reference page! Save you a lot of time...and like I said, once you have made up a reference, it is stored forever!! And yes I used papers at the end of the course, that I used at the beginning.

a free 1 is EasyBib: Free Bibliography Generator - MLA, APA, Chicago citation styles

Another great thing about PERRLA is their customer support---it is awesome!! have a question, send them an email and they always answer very p[promptly! 1 prof took 4 marks off, as she said my refs were wrong.......I emailed Perrla with my work....and I was right! She admitted I was right, but never got the marks back, lol

Everything was hand written, notes and sources on index cards!

And back everything up....Computers are known to die at the worst possible time! So save it on ur computer..but back it up on a thumb drive..or even better the CLOUD....I started saving stuff on Hotmails (outlook) OneDrive! That way it is saved in multiple places..and easily accessible! Save..Save..Save (and multiple places)

I bought PERRLA as well, it was only 40-50 bucks. At first it didn't seem to help much but once I figured out what it did and did not do it became more useful. It formats everything and keeps track of references. It doesn't make the references with magic, you still have to input the correct information. If I had to do it over I would purchase it again.

Can I come over?

Don't like tea but I would love come over as well. I have my own deer here, but I do not have communication with other nurses about nurse stuff.....

Me too. I never did figure out a couple things (that I think they could explain better), like what is a government document? Is that the CDC? Or is the CDC considered a group author? I dunno, sometimes I would double check what perrla gave me against a couple of those free online reference builders. Another tip I figured out way too late in the game is to look at the references at the back of the articles I'm reading - chances are they have referenced things I'm unclear on and would just swipe those and hope for the best. Also, never hurts to literally google "how do you cite the CDC in APA" and viola!

Oh and HEY, wanna know another thing Grammarly is good for? If your computer does crash at the last possible second on a Sunday night and you had already run your paper through there, it saves everything and you could just log on from a different computer and get it back out! Oh and perrla can be used on multiple computers (just from the one purchase), so if you're laptop croaks and you get your content back out of grammarly, you can load perrla on your backup desktop or whatever and just paste it in a new paper. Of course, waiting until Sunday night is not advised... HA!

Ok Rob, you can have coffee. I'd offer beer, but it's too early for me. ;) You can keep your deer and stare at mine. If any luck, we can up the road and find the elk herd.

This place is my place of nursing gossip N' stuff too. I don't really talk to nursey stuff with my co-workers.

I agree! This has been such a nice forum to come to for support, advice, talking about whatever, or complaining about your latest gripe! I don't know how I would have made it without help from everyone here! i am hoping the new grads decide to peek in every now and then (or more often) to see what is going on. I needed this site for all of the above plus to use as a distraction when I just can't seem to focus on my latest paper and want to see what my friends are talking about! So, I owe a huge THANK YOU to everyone!

You are going to start paying into the GCU cuss bank every time you mention the word OLD.

Back in our day, we did footnotes. Buy Peerla. It's cheap and will really help with APA.
