Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
There is more than just 1 good prof out there.....And if ur adviser is like mine..would not let me double up, even though I am paying out of pocket and don't work....nothing but time[/Flames you are correct that there are plenty of good instructors at GCU. I've only had 1 bad one which was in Spirituality. Good Luck to you next week in Capstone. Its exciting and scary at the same time.

This is definitely true, but also there are some that I would avoid. Several of the Instr's I had for prior classes (that were not helpful, made up their own APA rules, were late graders, were vague &/or just plain confusing) I had looked in the faculty roster and they also teach Cap. I wasn't willing to roll the dice for something this monumentally important, stress-inducing, and time consuming. I would have been done 2 months ago if I had just let the computer randomly assign me to someone, but decided to go with a proven winner and I'm definitely glad I did. Not sure my family agrees, but they're not the ones that sit here and try to decipher ridiculous assignment instructions and cryptic add-ons with so much on the line.
I really like being here in this forum. I find that Facebook is way overrated, besides how you get into a group can be creepy. I have actually had classmates attempt to friend me. Being in an online environment for 5 weeks does not make me your friend (especially the one who dumped junk in my lap for a CLC - I'm going to need therapy over the CLCs). I'm not saying that you cannot end up being friends from an online classroom situation, the situation would just depend. Then there is the whole moderator, because lets face it some people just do not have a brain about what they post in a public forum, and if the moderator is one of those people, um, no...
...off to read some more boring articles. Yawn...

My FB group is small....Allnurses has been helpful, but I have gotten more info from FB groups.....each their own....Each adds to the puzzle.....

Winter that's exactly what I'm doing. I could not find 15 quality articles on my initial topic so now on to the next. I had to have saved 50 articles to my desk top that I am now reading to get 15 articles. So BORING and time CONSUMING. Come on week 2! To bad we do not have an Easter break. That would be lovely.

That bloody class is stressful enough without having a paper Nazi at the helm. Yeah, it is the capstone, and I took point deductions, but I didn't want to be told to rewrite the paper, or take such a hit that my grade suffered.
One has to correct the weekly papers because they are blended into the large final paper. I had to correct and edit my graded papers but thankfully it wasn't too bad. Some of those profs that I had would have been brutal.
After reading all your posts in the last 3 weeks, I am convinced I will have Capstone Shock ! I have Patho and then trends before that class so I am trying to get my PICO question to then be able to read my 15 articles BEFORE the class starts. So in order to reduce the shock, obviously it wont be eliminated, lol, can you guys PM me with the chosen one's name and I can manipulate my schedule to have her?
Got an email today asking me to comment (link to survey) on my overall program experience since I'm almost done. Of course I would wait until I have that diploma in my hot little hand LOL, but I'm wondering really what they even do with that information? The people that bother to fill it out undoubtedly lambaste them on the idiocy of CLCs and how they actually hinder the educational process of students, but they're still part of the curriculum so obviously they don't reaaaaaaaaaally want to know what my opinion is.
I'm sorry, but I have spent 18 Grand (capitalized for emphasis) out of pocket for this education; I don't care what kind of research you have showing that CLCs are team-building. Absolutely nothing I have experienced has risen above frustration, babysitting, trying to explain and re-explain the obvious to inept (or just apathetic and rude) team members, and giving myself a bleeding ulcer over the possibility that some fool is going to tank my grade to the point of doing the whole assignment by myself at 2 o'clock in the morning with the known result of handing a jerk a nice pretty A+ that they did nothing for. And no, it didn't prepare me for the real world of Nursing Management, because if I were the boss of some of the absolute ______s that I've encountered, their employment would have lasted exactly 2 days - an option not available to a CLC team leader.
I think I won't bother.
