Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Does anyone have any insight to the CLC in Ethics? I know there is an individual paper one week and the group project the next week. Thank goodness my group is already talking about it and seems like they are on the ball, and this is only week 1. Unlike my other group in Research. Still have 1 person just starting her part tonight. and its due tomorrow. I can only hope for the best with that one! :nailbiting:

True that. I don't understand how a person can take a class in 1 day. That boggles my mind.

I know a WGU grad, she did her BSN in 3 months and her MSN in 8 months...just sayin' folks. No way!

Yes, this was the two part CLC. In week 5 there is an individual assignment, which must be completed by everyone by week 4 so that you can write the second part of the paper in week 5.

There are two group papers and 1 individual paper that needs to be incorporated into the second paper.

If I remember right my group divided the first assignment up equal and then a lot of the group thought it was a hand their separate piece in cut copy and paste your done. It is not. You have to incorporate each interview into each section of the rubric. Looking back the papers should be done in groups (I might say differently if I had done it that way), but I ended up doing that second paper mostly on my own.

My advice, stay away from assisted suicide. Hth! Clear as mud, right?!

We had problems with ONE person who refused to budge. Both Pandora and I went against our ethics to get the paper done. It wasn't worth it to spend two weeks trying to argue our points.

For the CLC....my advice is do all communicating on the color forum...if u do get a Prof that actually checks it out, they can see who the problem child(s) are. Some of the group projects are fairly easy..spend time fighting with a student, or just do it urself, lol I actually used the slackness of some people in CLC projects in week 3 trends DQ, which centered on Bsn vs ADN,lol

Oh yeahhhh I remember that CLC. My group was the bomb (as in A-bomb). No one understood the directions, that we were supposed to actually have a sort-of debate in the color forum and decide on our "position." Once everyone decided on a TOPIC, that was it - crickets. I'm busy writing, "Ok all, we know what topic we're doing, but what side of the fence is everyone on within that topic? Do you agree? Disagree? What angle are we going to write from?" That conversation literally never happened (well it happened, cause I wrote those questions, but no one ever aswnered me). And then all the parts to the paper/PPT (whatever it was, I can't remember now), came back to me with everyone just basically writing a paper ON the TOPIC "Assisted suicide/euthanasia is legal in certain states"... and "this is when a medical person provides one with the lethal dose"... blah blah blah. Oh and they gave the complete autobiography of poor Dax. No one ever picked a side. Ridiculous. Won't miss those.

Sounded like the 2 course I did not have to do, Ethics and community Health..were the best 2 to miss, lol

Any CLC avoided is a bullet dodged. :wacky:

I was the only one who did not agree on our take on assisted suicide, I took 2 minutes to cave....and that was while i was writing my response. It was an assignment not a real choice. What was funny was in the end all of it ended up being for the other point of view in the second paper except one of the interviewees. I laughed about that!

Well, thanks everyone, I think! I can't wait for this project (to be over). We actually have several people who are stepping up to head up the project. I am excited about that, at least we are going in the right direction. Since we don't have a written assignment due in week 2 maybe we will get started and not make it a last minute project.

Glad to see you around PrismRN. I hope the capstone is getting better for you. It has sounded like a mess!

It is Sunday night and I have the last week assignments completed as well as the discussion questions for Statistics.... What am I going to do all week? Too bad the next class doesn't open till Friday, I could get started on those DQs.
