Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

All papers have Intros (don't type the word Introduction though) and Conclusions (yes heading, centered, bolded). That tutor needs a rubberband snap.

I think I *win* on the Cap-Drama:

Started last Monday. Paid (in full, cash) a week before start of class. Got the Prof I wanted. Class opens early, I read & download everything on Thursday morning. Mon & Tues I'm just cruising around class, reading ppl's bios, typing up my DQs on my Word doc, etc. Tues evening I go to post my DQ. No LoudCloud. No Student Portal. No library. No nothing. Call IT. IT dude tells me there's nothing wrong with my system, and no, LC is not "down". Proceeds to tell me not only have I been removed from my Cap class and 2 other new students have already taken my place (since 2 hours prior, when I WAS clicking around class), but that I have been withdrawn from the University. Yes folks, you read that right. Per IT dude, I am no longer a student, and that's why I have no access to anything. I start screaming and crying. IT dude freaks out. IT dude hangs up (yet still manages to send me an email survey asking how my experience was). I call my SA (after business hours). Scream and cry into his VM. I send him an email, typed mostly in CAPS (`cause I want him to know I'm still screaming and crying). Shortly after sending said email, Prism barfs from the stress :barf01:

Do I win?

Totally Dude! You win win win. Oh me oh my!

:shy: Great that means I've lost another chunk of points on the conclusion!

Hi all,

So I am starting community health this week and am trying to get a head start on the week 5 project. I just left a message with my son's school nurse about getting her on board for something about head lice or maybe sending sick kids to school, as in when to keep them home. Or maybe something about vaccinations, and how kids who are not vaccinated effect the community. I am hoping for some feedback from those of you have have already done this project. Am I even on the right track here?

Okay so I had to have a heart attack last night just before I uploaded my assignment, almost late. I'm trying to do Writecheck, fixes, going to go check classroom while waiting for results...find out I'm out of my Capstone class (freaking). Then find out I've been marked down on my last assignment for my conclusion (being in the body of the paper - no heading???). Did not change current paper before upload because was told by tutor it was done right (have been marked down in past for having "Conclusion" as a heading)! I am NEVER going to figure out APA if every teacher has a different interpretation, I am so upset, disgusted, and confused. I have no idea anymore!!! Rant mostly over, at least here. The good thing today, well two things. Got back into MY capstone class (don't mess with me people), and it is 42 days and counting.

Apa is a pain in the butt. Everyone speaks the language differently.

You are right on track. Do a poster, or a fun handout for the kids, they love "bugs".

kyra

I did mine on germs and hand washing. i made germs and placed them around the room where they could be hiding and had a wand with a germ at the end to use as a pointer for my ppt. I gave the kids germ stickers to place where they thought germs might be and also had a baggie of cornstarch that I put my hand into. I pretended to sneeze into my hand and they could see the "germs" fly from my hand and then I touch a few itms in the room and left behind the white cornstarch to signify germs. The ideas are endless! I had so much fun with that project! I wish I could find something fun in Ethics right now!

Ok one and all. Have been occupied with work and other things for a bit. But have to tell you I can not find one other single program that does not require you take lots of other courses. Music Appreciation? History of the Environment?

You were all correct at the get go that this is the best school for your buck. There are glitches... but I can see it was is not just me.

DerkFam, I love your project idea. That was very creative! And had to be fun for the kiddos!

Western Governors may not require those extra classes?? Some say it is much cheaper as I think you pay so much a semester, 3 classes or 1, it is the same price, but don't quote me on that

Be glad ur not going to the University of Pheoenix, guess they are having some financial issues.....had not heard many good things about that program!!

I did mine just before flu season so I made a trifold board for my presentation along with handouts on flu prevention and went to an assisted living facility and did a teaching session.

Started piecing together my FINAL assignment for my BSN. WOOHOO. I can't wait. As I'm finishing up others who started a different program before I started are still taking various religion classes or whatnot that their chosen school requires. If I had to choose again I would go with GCU. I've heard several times how the others are jealous I'm about done. All the schools have the same accredidation too so that's not an issue. 1 1/2 weeks and I'm a graduate. yay

Sorry, I don't think any of us know what that is (see page 228 of this thread where we all had no clue) :bag:
