Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Ok, share that instructor as well so I avoid them!

Specializes in NICU.
Wow, so I'm starting Leadership this Monday. It is the last class prior to the Capstone. Can anyone tell me how this class is? The instructor mentions that she grades hard on papers. If there are ANY reference or citation problems, she will give you an automatic zero and then return your paper for a 20% reduction (at her discretion) for you to correct it. :(

There is a huge list of deductions for stuff, such as going over in word count on a paper.

I want to cry. :crying2:

Oh you make me nervous... I am starting Leadership and Trends in healthcare March 10th. This is my first time doubling up on classes. Now I am worried I shouldn't have done that.

Yes please!! I don't want that same instructor

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Just a quick reminder: please share any staff/faculty names by private message, as posting them in the forums is prohibited. Thanks! (And this instructor sounds ridiculous, wow.)

Specializes in Certified Med/Surg tele, and other stuff.

Trends isn't too bad of a class. Rather enjoyable. Not overly paper heavy, just your usual stuff due each week. You do have a ppt in both. In leadership it's a single project of 12-15 slides and in Trends it is a group project. You definitely will be busy with double of everything due each week.

Yeah, I'm calling my advisor on Monday. I'm getting out of this class. No way can I stay. I want to learn the content and not worry about APA, you know? I mean, I worry about it now, and I'm anal about paper writing, but to have a paper be all or nothing is stupidly insane, in my opinion. I can understand being docked a few points for APA that isn't a 100% correct, but a zero??

Okay, good. I have a nice 11 day break from work at the start of the class so I am hoping to get as much done as possible in those 11 days.

Like tokmom, I am OUT of that insane class too!!! I emailed my advisor and requested a change.

JRich --- Just curious why you'd want to double up on courses? 5 weeks goes by extremely fast.

 This is me at the end of each 5 week course, lol!

Specializes in Pulmonary, Cardiac.

PERRLA has made my Gcu experience so much easier. I recommend it!

I wanted to get done even sooner. I am ready to be done with school.

I have PEERLA, but it's not bulletproof. You have to get the correct format etc.. there is too much to lose in this class to even trust PEERLA.

I know that feeling.

What class are you in now? I can't keep track of everybody, lol.
