Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
I'm in the middle of my 2nd class and have a question re: CAT (course assessment task). Do these just show up in the forum list without the instructor mentioning them anywhere else, or is that just my experience? I was a little freaked out when I saw it and worried that there would be other things that were worth points that I missed. The first CAT said that they counted for participation points, but the fact that they existed and were part of the grade wasn't listed in the syllabus or in an announcement or anything. TIA.
CAT's depend on the instructor, and they can decide to attach part of the participation points to them, it's their class they make the rules. I found every single CAT question to be a effort in "busy work". Like you don't have enough to keep you busy. Either an instructor uses them are they do not. I only ran across two in my courses so far. Good luck!
The first week of both Leadership and Patho are definitely where you can double. I doubled most of Spirit and Ethics together, and if I had not been leader for the CLC in Ethics this would have been much easier. I am doubling the last week of Patho and the first week of Trends right now and am regretting it a little bit, the only thing saving me is that I took two days off after working Sunday so basically the whole week off. I had nothing done coming into the week so that is spanking me as well. So if you do these together, just make sure and work in advance in Patho. I am so stinking happy to have that last DQ done! Now that I am in Trends I did a DQ in under 400 words, and took me less than an hour to write it, hooray! I think kwmom is doubling last week of Patho with first week of Capstone.
Winter - Thanks for the information!! I am wanting to double someplace before we head back to the states for R&R. Right now I have a 2 wk overlap of classes and flying back to the states. I automatically loose about 3 days with jet lag, so really wanting to be completed with a class before we leave and not have to worry about school when flying home for 30 days.
My last two classes before we leave are ethics and spirit - have been thinking about overlapping them a couple of weeks.
A 'Roo hug for you!

I didn't stress over these and only saw them in the first and second class. They were not separately graded and counted towards participation posts. I generally ignored them but answered one or two to provide me enough posts during the week. Sometimes there is just nothing I wanted to say in the forum that hadn't been said 100 times before.
DITTO this! I got one or two names last month. The gods were not with me for this current class..or maybe my first instructor for intro to professional dev was just really really awesome, and set the bar so high that no one else can compare?
The suggestions I've gotten have been very helpful. Maybe we can compile a doc and share it among ourselves. When someone asks, we'd have it ready! I'll compile it if people want to PM me their thoughts and then send it out to those who ask for it as well as the contributors. Anyone interested?
Is it safe to vent about particulars here? I'll keep it vague, just in case. Anyone ever click the submit assignment link instead of the submit to turn it in? Things were really chaotic last Sunday evening, and durnit, but I clicked the wrong one. Why is there a delete icon if you can't delete anything? Tech support couldn't help either, but they said to message the instructor and she could reassign it. My instructor and I have gone back and forth 3 messages each, and I just sent the fourth tonight. I still haven't been able to resubmit the assignment. The communication I am getting back from the instructor is not as helpful as I feel it could be, not only in this regard but also in other communications. This is literally the worst learning experience I have ever had in my entire life. I cannot even believe the interactions are happening, it's like a strange dream. I left a message for my counselor tonight to see what can be done. Am I losing my mind? Am I making a bigger deal of this than I should? 4 more days, just 4 more days of this class.
Just curious if they are typically announced anywhere, or do they just appear out of thin air onto the forum? I feel like (and maybe I'm completely off my rocker) but that if something is expected of me and counts for points that it should be listed SOMEWHERE.CAT's depend on the instructor, and they can decide to attach part of the participation points to them, it's their class they make the rules. Owch beccajean, that is truly awful. I feel for you, don't know how many times I almost clicked that wrong button. And yes, I've tried the delete button also, and nothing happens - what the heck is it even there for?? What do you mean when you say you've gone back and forth a few times with the instructor, what is the confusion? You asked if she could reopen the submission box, the only answer should have been yes or no. Let's just hope that all this lollygagging isn't costing you 10% deduction per day (as is school policy). You clearly turned it in on time, you likely (hopefully?) sent her an email or PM/Individual QFI right away (before MN on Sunday?), and you probably have a ticket number from the IT people (even though they weren't able to help, at least it's proof you tried). I think you did the right thing contacting your SA, and if you do get daily 10% off for this delay that is not your fault, I would officially appeal the grade. Yes, you made an error, but students are human. This is why there is even an option for the instructor to reset the assignment dropbox. Not sure if it's instructor choice or not, but it's available as an option, and I've had them do it for me before.
FYI, for future reference, not that you'll ever do it again, but here's a fact I learned from the IT ppl in the midst of one of my crises: No one can reset an assignment box for a CLC; not the instructor, not the IT ppl, not Bill Gates. It can't be done in the computer at all; the function is only doable for individual assignments (wanna know how I know this? The ONE AND ONLY TIME I gave up control of assignment submission for a CLC, the girl who was assigned to do it submitted the wrong paper.....)

Why can't you just send it through the individual forum?
As others have said, CATs are individual instructor choice (to have them or not), which is why they're not in the official syllabus. I've had 11 classes and have never had one. Regarding your specific question of where they're mentioned, it's probably buried in the Instr Announcements. This is where they typically tell you what they consider a substantive post (which also differs from prof to prof), how many time you have to post per week, yada yada, so I'd bet that's where you'll find the info.
