Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

In patho now.....Many seem to be around 600-900 words......Our prof adds in a second DQ..believe she counts it as a response. The DQs may require a bit more work..but they are interesting

It was in one of the announcements. I will ask her first thing on Monday. Glad there are no familiars! That or we could let G do it ALL this time, LOL!!!

One of the major slackers from when I first started GCU is in my Leadership class, I would have asked to be changed, HA!

Wonder how big the groups are going to be...if it is 5 or less, and we get put together, we have the majority...hehehehe.

Ah. I'll have to look again. I must've missed that one. Is it bad I almost wish we had G again now that we know her style. Lol. The fact that your major slacker is in your Leadership class makes me sad how the slackers are still chugging along......no doubt on the shirt-tails of others which makes me think everyone in CLCS get the same grade.

I've been trying to work ahead and have all my work done for Trends. Just have the DQ responses to worry about so I should be okay. Hopefully Patho won't be too bad. I see the DQs are quite long and worth 20 points.......wonder how in depth the instructor is going to require?

I have two days off this week to do 3 DQs, a PPT, and that test. Next week 4 days off so I will be burning some midnight oil! I thought I was working ahead but then here I am with nothing done for the next week! How did that happen?

Looking at them it appears that at least they are nursing related. Reminds me of ADN school.

The CLC for Patho is very straight forward....should be a 2 person tasking..1 does the 500-750 word paper and the other does up the dialogue..appears very straightforward

I just finished that CLC a week ago, and yes you're correct, in reality it is a 2-person job, but when you have 4 or 5 people in your group it gets very muddied...lots of repeats, then people going off on their own tangent and addressing something that's not even in part 1, etc. The editing/proofing was a 3-day job (no, I didn't do it this time, but felt extremely sorry for the person who did). It was impossible for her to get the others to rewrite their parts so it was more cohesive and made sense; she eventually just rewrote the whole thing and basically said "here it is, like it or lump it". I'm sure she was steaming at all the usual replies: "Looks Great!" "Thanks for all your hard work!" "We made it, great job Team Green!" :barf01:

I've had a couple days basically alone with a quiet house so I spent ALOT of time dedicated to GCU. When the hubby's home I don't stay focused.....squirrels!!!

Thanks Prism & Flames.....I know NOT to be the leader for this one!

This is sad to say, but what I found interesting is some of the students' DQ answers... it's hard to not correct them when they're completely wrong about a treatment plan they recommend (that could certainly make the situation worse or even kill the poor dude). Makes it obvious who is nursing by the seat of their pants and not by evidence based protocol.

Yes, avoid that if you can. The trick to this assignment is to literally do it in 2 parts, spaced out accordingly. You have plenty of notice (assuming your Prof did actually assign groups already, you have a month), so we did this: We broke it up into 2 parts (paper/dialogue). Team A took the paper, did that, and had it posted to the forum so Team B could then take it and run with it. Kind of like a relay race. Team B was supposed to address the 4 topics discussed in the paper (thus, why we did it early, duh), but you see from my earlier post that didn't really work out. As bad as it was, I can't imagine not doing it that way - if all of us were trying to do it at the same time, it would've caused mass confusion and hysteria.

I really felt for you in that class. It was awful. :(
