Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?
Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?
I'm assuming auto correct hijacked your post, lol.
I'm going to do mine on compassion fatigue and nurse burnout, because our hospital does nothing toward stopping that process, and I have plenty of ideas!
Is there a word count and how difficult is it to put together?
How long does it take to get your grade? (AKA how long do I have to sweat it out?)
Access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week--as long as you have internet connection!!You can see the whole syllabus, so for the most part you can work ahead, BUT you can't submit anything early! Well I never tried to submit a paper early, so maybe you could.....but Discussion questions you can't, and you have to be active so much in the Discussion question forum--two posts a day for at least 3 days out of the 7.
No real "webinar" Ur not watching/listening to a prof. Most of it is reading. Yes a fair # of papers!
You seemed already done so far. congratulations! and thanks so much for responding my questions. it is really helpful! I will be starting class the end of this Feb. I am still nervous to start. I haven't studied for a long time I have been looking around GCU website and tried to familiarize all the learning system. feel little overwhelmed. my first course is "Professional Dynamics" and wonder if this ebook, "Conceptual Foundations: The Bridge to Professional Nursing Practice" is a text book? I found it while just looked around on the web. if so, Can I borrow at library? (tried, bot not founding) it is an ebook right?. or should I buy? it is not included $110 book fee?
Office 365 is free for students which is good. just wonder how it is good to use. I recently got Office student 2013. still not sure I have to download Office 365, seems 9 software free- sounds pretty cool!
thanks!
All the books you require are included inthat $110 fee you pay for each course. You can actually seem them all, for the whole course once you get the required password, which happens closer to start of the course. I view all the books online. No real books!!! Yes you can find them to buy online, but will cost you more $$$$$$. I believe you can download them righ to your desktop/tablet
If you have office 2013--you are good to go. Not sure if the school provides it for Free---I had to pay for it (student discount) for my 1 laptop.
You shoul dbe offered a free 3 day mini-class--its just an orientation to the online classroom--not a pass or fail--it just helps you figure out on how to get around the online classroom.
best of luck
So I have to wait to closer to the course to get a text book! - I wish to get it in advance to read without buying ;-( . Here is the link Technical Support | Campus Resources | Grand Canyon University I think this is new offering (?) to the current GCU student! It allows to download it through GCU email account. Good deal!
Thanks
Prof dynamics is prob the easiest of the courses. But it really depends on the prof. Some mark a bit tougher, some really follow the law when it comes to Discussion questions--having to be about ur experience and/or using references. Just replying to a post and saying--ur so awesome, what a great idea, isn't going to cut it,lol You will find that everyone for the most part just agrees with what the poster stated--no one seems to want to rock the boat!! So one has to get a feel for the Prof. When it comes time for papers and group projects---GO BY THE RUBIK!!! The Rubik lays out what you need to do!! Group projects----can be a pain!! I always try to take the initial lead and get the group going and get the topic figured out. Otherwise, another group may take the topic you desire, lol As wel for group projects, you have to fill out a "contract" very easy to do, it contains a few things--1 important thing it show--what everyone's responsibility is for the project! And the consequences if they do NOT do them!! make sure it is very well understood. Its not a hard thing to fill out, it really isn't----lot of it is just common sense. Do it well the first time and you can pretty much keep using it agaian and again--just tweaking it of course. best of luck

http://gcu-team-orange.wikispaces.com/CLC+agreement somewhat of an example. Just do a google search on GCU CLC agreement. Make it very specific when it comes to group tasks--and the consequences if they do not do it!!
Yes, easy to fill out CLC agreement but not so easy to haunt down some team members if they decide to play invisible man or woman. We once had a member that was a no show the whole way through. No amount of contact from us stirred her from her slumber. Until of course, it was the last minute, and we were about to submit the assignment. Not sure how she was graded, but the instructor was aware of what was happening.
We had that problem last class. I even asked the teacher if she was still in class because she never responded to us! We didn't have her info because she never filled it out. She finally responded about 2 weeks before class was over, and did get her stuff done. But man, how annoying! We all know you see the notifications just like we do!

yes IM. I actually finished my RN to BSN, and started into the acute care nurse practitioner program. For the capstone I did mine on cardiac rehab. I picked that, because it is something that I dealt with at work all the time, and I was able to see how I could help improve our process. You should Bayshore capstone on something you do Earth Ceat work that you see a way to improve upon that process. For instance improving upon diabetic teaching, or improving upon wound care or wound care documentation. Good luck, if it is time for capstone, your almost there!
