Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Tip O' the Week: How to properly reference your current class e-book

So, just finished class 9, wish I had seen this 9 classes ago. You all probably already know this, but in case not:

Go to Resources tab, choose Syllabus. Choose the Overall tab (not Current). There's the proper reference for the book.

It's nice and clean, ready to copy/paste, APA style (except - if I'm not mistaken, the title of the book needs to be italicized), has an ISBN, and doesn't have all that junk attached to it that you get when you use the Cite function inside the e-book itself (I don't want all that [VitalSource] bookshelf nonsense with a really long trailing hyperlink). Which, btw, that hyperlink is a no-no per APA, if you're referencing something that requires password access (like our LC classroom & PageBurst does), you can't put that in your reference - just the main website address. But, if there's an ISBN, no need to even do the "Retrieved from".

Now I find this out..

Honestly, I wish all of you would turn your stuff in by Tuesday so that when I'm in my Procrastinista mode on Sunday evenings y'all stop jammin' me up! :woot::roflmao:

Another one in the bag, that was the last paper of week 5! WOOT!

Congratulations on being done with week 5. Which class is this for you? The 10th/12?

By the way I got my paper done early on Saturday... No jammin' here!! Very funny though...

I am looking at starting my paper on the heritage assessment. Found three co-workers that would fill out the questionnaire now just need to put them together. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how it should be completed? Did you find 3 other sources of information or did you just cite the interviews completed.

Little confused because none of the people I interviewed had any real health traditions, the were more modern with their health beliefs. Any bit of advice would be great.

Is it just me or is the text editor here in Allnurses acting crazy?? It is missing keystrokes all over the place.

I did both. I interviewed my families and then delved deeper into the culture, even though the families I interviewed practiced Western Medicine and beliefs.

No problems, so far here! I really like the new layout. I can find my favorites easier.

As far as the heritage assessment I believe I did both, I cited the interviews and had other references (the textbook for sure).

Not that this is news to anyone but in that class and the next I just kept making sure that the interview/rubric/paper all dovetailed together. If you are quoting one thing in one area, make it match in another.

When it comes to health assessment pick someone with simple issues. I picked someone like that, (at least I thought I had) and then when it came time to the interview it was horrible. After the fact she told me, I threw in a bunch of stuff for you! I was like, I didn't need that! I was so dumbstruck I think I said "you mean your husband is really not leaving you, and you don't think you have an STD"....no answer (cringe worthy moment found again, which is never hard for me, ever!)
