Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I always go with the rubric in the end because that is what they are required to grade by. Take a day off from here and 5 pages later...whoa!

Finn was bustling to catch up here! ;)

So for this CLC project I have one of those crazy type A personalities, but I think she might just be crazy. She jumped on the ball within seconds of the assignment and took charge. She filled out the CLC agreement, but I don't know if she gets it. She wants someone (me) to assign tasks to each group member before we even pick a subject, outline, or anything....... Well.... Okay......

Member 1 : PP pages 1-4

Member 2 : PP pages 5-9

Member 3 : pp pages 10-14

member 4 : pp pages 15-18

Done..... duh-1007.gif pump-2140.gif

Does she want you to assign tasks now or is she just assigning you that task so that when all the rest is decided and the outline is done you are good to go?

She may just be that organized. Lol

Thank you all, that all I want to say is thank you!! :)

rob - you're doing the HP2020 ppt, for this class, yes? Let me give you a little tip that became a sticking point for me in this project: The assignment description doesn't match the rubric. Numbers 6 & 7 on the assignment description use the words "at least", yet the rubric uses the words "more than". If you go with the assignment description's "at least" and just do that, you are automatically starting from the 3-dot position on the rubric (to get a 4 or 5-dot score you need to do "more than"). So, take it from me, insist that your group provide a brief description of THREE community resources, THREE website resources, and TWO health related organizations.

This was a lesson-learned on the importance of reading the rubric with an electron microscope, dissecting it, and combining the rubric's actual language onto the outline so ALL information was in one place and each student knew not only what the assignment description was for their part, but how they would be graded for that part. A process I continued throughout my outlining/assigning tasks career, `cause there's aaaaalways someone who ain't gonna read that rubric and their piece comes up short on a Saturday...and guess who gets to fill in the missing stuff?

Thank you Prism, I agree with you.. How I read it is 3 peer reviewed articles, 3 community resources, 3 web resources, and 2 health related organizations. The rubric saves lives I say...

I wont be filling in the missing stuff cause someone else put them selves in the supreme rulers position......king-3408.gif

Uhhhh, I don't think so. I spent a little time reading her posts in the forum and on the wall and she seems to be the person that just throws a bunch or words at a paper and hope they stick to make a interesting topic or idea. Kind of like "just get it done, no matter what is it conveys a message or has meaning."

Either way, I will be a good team member and play the game. I think the instructor grades really easy so that will help.

Well, that's interesting. I admit, I was one of those milliseconds filler-outers of the agreement, however I never assigned anything until we knew what we were doing. At least she is gung ho!!

I don't mind jumping on this quickly, just without direction makes this person look like Fred's rear end.....donkey-61.gifass-412.gif

Hate to diminish Fred, but I know what you are saying... I love my Felicity... she is ready to go when I am!!

You know how to look into things... good for you Rob!

Oh boy, maybe she can organize those thoughts on paper....fingers crossed. Writers certainly come in various stages of readiness.

Are you going to be able to let go?

I will let go because right now my life needs someone else to take charge instead of me. Just before this assignment is to be submitted I have a lot going on (including surgery) so this time I just can't be the king. I got my first paper graded and received a 100%. Although I think it was acceptable, I don't believe it was 100% work. So right now I have a perfect score and maybe she will grade the CLC in the same fashion. Really am proud of the second paper so it should be good as well.

Not raining on the parade.... Wife says I am a pessimist.... I say I am a realist. The glass is neither half empty or half full, the 240 mL glass contains exactly 120 mL of fluid.......
