Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Published

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I started ethics this week and DQ 1 and participation for week 5 was graded "0". WTH. I am hoping it is a glitch in the system. I emailed the instructor and so replies yet. ???

I got a response from my instructor, she said not to worry. Everyone in our class got a 0/60 for the assignment. I bet the grading wasn't complete and the class ended on Sunday. The computer had to add some grade, right? Anyway, she fixed it 100%. I am just waiting on her to grade my flyer. All I need is around 30 points to maintain a high A.

Something must be going on with her as she was not like that for me at all. She was very interactive and graded early.

I think we had different instructors. This lady took at least a week to grade everything and never once responded to any discussion topic. The lady I have now is really active on the forum. Why can't I seem to be able to write this first paper?????

When I document in Epic, I will say, "Writer advised... " This sounds like a similar thing. I thank all for the heads up...

Spent 2.5 hours on the phone with new counselor. She wants me to create a new folder for each class. I assume she means a document folder. Should it be pdf.? word? what category.. I know I am showing my extreme stupidity, but trying hard.

My counselor told me today that if an instructor does not respond to your question within 24-48 hours.. they should be reported.

The school realizes they have lives.. but it should not be repetitive, otherwise they should not be teaching. The school wants to know about such things so if they see a pattern, they can take action. They have let many go, given, the instructor was working full time, had a young family.. and basically ignored the students. Their philosophy is for no one to experience this.

I hope everything works out well for you gikg. If you do not hear back from the instructor in a timely manner I would contact your advisor for help on this matter.

I am bowing out.. even tho I got a super counselor.. I am not willing to put up with the daily headaches you all have.

I don't mean to generalize.. but more that not.. professors are not answering questions, reporting grades in a timely fashion.. they claim to have high standards but that should be for both the student and professor.

I guess I'm keeping my eyes on the prize, the end result of this program. I'm willing to take a little bit of the bad with the good. It doesn't scare me in the least that I may run up against a teacher that forgets to give me points or ignores me for a day or two. To me, it's just part of the process. I can't imagine there is a perfect school that exists. I'm enjoying this program and wouldn't trade it for anything. Wishing you all the best.

Good luck pinkpetunia with everything. Like derkfamily said there is no perfect school out there. One must take the good with the bad and learn from it. GCU is a lot of work but I am happy that I'm a lope!

She replied to my post saying it automatic enter 0 if she does not grade by the Sunday. She fixed one of those. Just waiting for one of the DQ and CLC.

Glad I went back to look at the grades for week 5 of Professional Dynamics.... 0 points for participation again... Fired off an email again... This is getting a little old, I guess my 11 posts were not enough.

Are they slow in grading? Sometimes the grades don't "stick" and they have to be reentered. Glad you noticed it!

Wow, you read a few posts about late instructors and you quit a program. Best you do quit before you waste everyone's time and your money.

I seriously think you should try a local university where you can see the instructor face to face but be forewarned. Ain't no perfect program out there.

Oh as for those headaches, AKA minor glitches, were well worth the price for the BSN that is behind my name. ;)
