Ii want to go to a community college and get my associates degree in nursing. Will I be able to become an RN with that?
I went to an alternative high school..and didn't learn anything.:uhoh21:
I'm practicing for my ACT test but it's so hard!! I'm struggling to learn and remember the things I'm being taught.
My friends mom is a CPN and makes 23$.. is that possible? Should I just do that?
I'm scared that I will waste my parents money and make a fool out of myself because I'm not very smart..
I'm not going to lie..I've done a lot of drugs (IN MY PAST)
I quit EVERYTHING. My memory is horrible. I get depressed thinking about how stupid I was to do all of those drugs. I was addicted to cocaine for years..done acid..smoked a lot of weed..I tried meth once and I hated it I freaked out..
I'm not completely stupid. But my memory is bad. I quit everything, even ciggerates. And I want to turn my life AROUND!! But is it possible..
What should I do? Please no negative comments. I had a really hard life and I know my actions were stupid that is why I quit everything cold turkey. I don't need you to remind me. I already am haunted by it everyday.

Being honest about your past and having the desire to turn things around is the first step. Don't be too hard on yourself, and try to focus on positive thoughts. Good luck.

I went to an alternative school because medical reasons put me behind in regular school, and I am going to college to be a RN. My school was awful, so does that make college tough? Sure. Impossible? Nope

I was a true Bon Jovi loving child of the 80s and also have a horible memory. I grew up. Went to community collage-transfered to a university and made the deans list almost every semester.
It doesnt matter how you get there as long as you get there.
Just take it one class at a time, one semester at a time, if you find youself struggleing then get help. You will be fine and someday make a great nurse.

please don't say you are stupid. if you think it, you will believe it. say positive things about yourself so that you will think positive things. nursing school is very hard. many instructors will try and make you feel like an idiot, so having self-confidence is of import! you will be great!

yes, you would be able to obtain your rn after receiving a degree from a community college. as another poster pointed out, you are very young. quitting your old habits couldn't have been easy, so look at how strong you are! take it all one step at a time. you can do it

There is no doubt you can redeem your life and make a fresh start. Sign up at the community college and start with the generals and prerequisites needed for nursing school. There is usually a wait list for RN programs so check on that and get on that list if there is one, and take the prereqs and generals while you wait. You do get your RN with an assoc. degree in Nursing.(You have to pass the boards )
Also, I dont think you have to take ACT for community college, so check out your particular college. Most Community and tech. colleges have open enrollment . THe nursing program may be another story.
Your past does not have the power to destroy your future. The world is full of redemption stories!:redpinkhe
Good luck.

You can do this is you are willing to continue working so hard. Contact your commuity college. They are there to help people who for many different reasons aren't able to go right to a 4 year college. You don't need ACT or SAT to go to community college. You can't usually apply directly to the nursing programs no matter how good you are. You have to do all the pre-req's (science, math, english etc) first. Community colleges will provide remedial classes for things you didn't learn and career counseling to help you make the right decisions.
Even an alternative high school usually has a guidance counselor who can help you get started in the right direction. Taking nurses aide training will help you see if nursing is for you and give you a paying job. Good luck to you. Keep working hard. You are to young to give up no matter what mistakes you made.

You don't know what you can or can't do until you try it! If you continue to limit yourself with your past you won't go anywhere.

I never graduated high school. I have my GED. And I'm set to graduate with my ADN in December. The only limits are the ones you set for youself. Good luck!

Community college is a great way to go! Instructors are focused on teaching and not doing research or writing text books....etc. Take it slow so you don't overwhelm yourself....you are already struggling with low self esteem. You have a long life a head of you, so start out with small pieces, and you'll be surprised how your study (and memory) skills improve. You don't say how long you've been off the drugs but know that you will see improvement the longer you stay clean.
Good Luck!
