from what I gather everyone recommends the saunders for content review and Kaplan for strategy and nclex questions.

HELLO AMY!

You want to hear my story. Well, I have a BS in Foods and Nutrition. I am a Registered Dietitian. I got married and pregnant. When my son turned 1 y.o. I went back to school for nursing. I was going to double major in school, until I found out that was SUICIDE. LOL :lol2:. Soooo my husband encouraged me to go back to school while I was home with my son to fulfill the dream I always wanted. He told me about an Accelerated BSN program for those that already had a 4yr. degree. I applied and didn't get accepted because I needed Microbiology. In the meantime, I went to the nearest Community College to take Micro. and found out that they had a night nursing program. I applied in July 2002, got accepted November 2002 and started January 2003. I stayed the night program until I Flunked a class in Spring 2004 (My father and father-in-law had died of lung Cancer this semester).During this spring semester I had also just completed Microbiology so that I could reapply for the Accelerated Option. Soooo I replied for the Day program at the Community College, so that I can take the class over. I got accepted for the Summer 2004 Option. I passed the that course with a "B". Then I went to my senior level with 2 semesters left. During my fall semester I FINALLY reapplied to the Accelerated Option at a University as a back up plan. I applied in October 2005, and was accepted end of Nov 2005. I was about to complete my Fall semester at the community college with ONLY ONE MORE SEMESTER LEFT. WHAT A HARD DECISION!!! BUT I weighed my option, and prayed about it. God assured me that my latter would be greater then my former. AND BY FAITH I left the Community College (ADN) for a chance to get a BSN in 13 months! I survived the PROGRAM! I finished with a 3.6 GPA! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! I will take my NCLEX-RN soon! I WILL PASS MY FIRST ATTEMT! I will have an OFFICIAL graduation in May 2006. I am glad that I made the RIGHT DECISION!! BOY IT WAS A TEST of my FAITH!!

NO TEST;)NO TESTIMONY, ROZY

NO TEST;)NO TESTIMONY, ROZY

Amen to that! God is good. You will be an Rn soon!:p

baby daughter was born.........baby daughter died of sids.............failed a quarter...........met hubby........got married..............got pregnant..............graduated 9mos pregnant............had son day after graduation.................failed nclex 2 times (and we all know what that does to you!!).........worked for a bit off an on in brothers business...........life happened.............10 years later here I am.

that definately is the shorter version..........so much happens in between the dots......LOL

I really feel God has brought us down a path for a reason and for some reason I wasn't meant to be a nurse till now.

We will succeed!

"Those of us working as RN,s have not worked in the States. In Canada we have our own board exams that we write when we graduate"

NOT TRUE. I have worked in the US since 1988.

I wrote my Canadian exam in 1987 received reciprocity with many US states. NOW, because of new laws am forced to write the NCLEX if I want to stay working under my TN Visa in the US. Its a federal law not a state law. I can write the NCLEX fail it and not have my license revoked. Unfortunately, I can only work till July 14th on my visa. If I do not pass the NCLEX cannot stay in the US as a working RN.

Unfortunately for me, have been in Informatics/medical IT programming for the last 9 years not clinical bedside nursing. The NCLEX is a stretch for me, BUT am doing what I need to do. Am now working at the bedside as a psych nurse and reviewing what I need to know to take the exam either this month or April 2006. Should I fail the first attempt will be forced to take the final pill: transfer to a Med/Surg floor. Am actually enjoying the studies and the switch.

Because they live outside the US.

RN's also may retake NCLEX if license on inactive status for five or more years in some states in lieu of referesher course.

Does their license get revoked if they should fail ?

Thanks in advance for your response.

You want to hear my story. Well, I have a BS in Foods and Nutrition. I am a Registered Dietitian.

Don the Dietician a friend has done the same thing taking the NCLEX either this month or next. Canadian dieticians are thought of as being like a nurse manager, just a step above an RN so don't think you would see this in Canada.

Hello Amy!

Now THAT's A STORY and A HALF! God has really brought US through some TRYING SITUATIONS to make US STRONG for WHATEVER HE HAS for US to DO! NOW I believe that! I kinda feel like DAVID. I 've killed the LION (Nursing Theory) and the BEAR ( Nursing Clinicals and MY FINAL EXAM), NOW I have to go kill MY GOLIATH (NCLEX-RN). I have 3 smooth stones to throw (Nursing knowledge, Prayer, and Praise in Advance). I am BOUND to KILL HIM DEAD on MARCH 29th at 9 a.m. :lol2: in the Name of the Father, son, and the HOLY GHOST! :lol2:

ARGH!!! ok just a little vent......I just received my request for transcripts back cause I didn't send them the $5 processing fee...LOL mind you they didn't tell me nor does it state on the paper I had to. I hate the hoops that need to be jumped through.

God is good! I just found out after calling the nursing office that I can request transcripts online which is what I just did and it was approved in less then 10 minutes! Well worth the extra $2.....LOL
