Great to hear your story Amy and how all things are made beautiful in His time.
just wondering if anyone can share there study methods with me, just to give me some insight on ways i can improve my study time. currently i am everywhere, i try to do questions on the cd in between cooking and changing diapers, and the rest of my study time is at night, when i am so tired, i don't think i am retaining anything :). any suggestions? i feel like i can't remember anything.
thanks in advance

Currently I am doing Suzannes Study plan. I have gotten the Saunders book (3rd edition from barnes and noble) and I started with chapter one read the first chapters till I got to the first end of chapter test. I do what she says.......if I score 75% or higher I move on but if I dont I re read the chapter and take the test (quiz) again. I am on chapter 21 and there are 76 I believe. So I figured it is going to take me about 4 weeks? not sure on that one yet. I love this cause I am learning stuff over again that I had forgotten, it was still in my brain but somthing about the way saunders is set up it doesn't feel lke you are learning it all over again it feels like your brain is just being unlocked. weird.
anyways I was skeptical at first but after getting the book it is all about how it is displayed in the book and the fact that your study plan is precise and it keeps you on track! I would give it a try if I were you. I too was feeling scattered till I started this!!!
If you want a study partner, feel free to pm me I would love to set someting up on yahoo messenger . thanks
AmyD
I too am doing Suzannes study plan, got the Saunders book and it is really a great review book, i have had others and this one seems to explain the details that really matter so they stick out, on top of the book there is also a CD with sample questions. But you are right Amy...after learning everything and not using it the book just unlocks your memory...I find myself sitting and reading and banging myself on the forehead saying Duh!! I remember that!
thats great! how we are all doing suzannes plan. i have finished reading the book, i thought i'd never get through it, but its possible, hehe. i'm doing the questions now, trying to do 100 a day.
my exam is early may and i am starting to panic because there is still so many things that are not concrete in my mind yet, like lab values, meds, i get so confussed.
anyway, i will pray that we can all concentrate as we study. i am sure with His strength we can do it!!!
happy studying!

Rebek how long did it take you to do the book?
Amyd
hi amy! it took me about 5 weeks or longer, i kept going back to certain areas i didn't do well in when i did the quiz. it was like doing my 3 yr nursing course all over again, but better it only took a few weeks, hehe. its good! there are always new things to learn.
how's the studying going? did you get your ATT?

that is great you are through the book. You say you haven't taken your test yet? when do you go? no I have not gotten my att yet, I have to call my brn today just to make sure they got my transcripts. I have had some little set backs in getting them there but I am still moving forward and I believe they are processing me as we speak. doesnt really matter though cause I am not scheduling till early may (if I am still confident at that point) So i am just going through the chapters like the tips says! have a few study partners on yahoo from here and it is nice to be able to bounce experiences off on another!!!
I am the type of person that needs a neat space to study in so I am on a terror this morning to get my chores done so I can sit and study. You have yahoo?

HI. I also just took my NCLEX after graduating from an Associate Program 10 years ago. I used Saunders and the NSBN(?) online prep course. I studied for about 3 1/2 months everyday. I nvr took the NCLEX before and when it cut off at 75 questions, I was sure I failed. But as of March 22, I am officially an RN. I passed!!! I remember a post that most people will pass, percentage wise, so have faith and STUDY. I can honestly say, when I was in school, I did not really understand some of the information. BUt the way Saunders presents it, I know more about Nursing theory now then when I graduate 10 years ago....I also am a much better learner now. GOOD LUCK TO ALL! It was Saunders that helped the most but the questions from the online prep were kinda similar to what was on my exam.
