GPC Students - how was your semester?

U.S.A. Georgia

Hey,

Just wanted to see how everyone's semester went at GPC. Just finished my 3rd and rolling into the 4th, thank Goodness!

I am moving to ga and plan to attend GPC. Has anyone done the LPN-RN Bridge option? In my LPN program, I took Dev Psych plus I already have taken Gen Psych and Eng 121 (critical thinking essays on assigned passages and short stories). I also took the NET Test, but Im unsure of which form I took; I already know that to be exempt for the NET, you have to have had Form D. Its pretty intimidating to read that you only have 1 time to pass the NET and will never have the chance to take it again, at least at this school.

I heard it's hard. I got in on my first try. My GPA was 3.79 and and I had 78 on the NET test. Some people got in with a GPA bellow 3.5, but a passing score on the NET is a must.;)

hi malarwen, can you tell me if your NET score was composite or was it only in the reading section. I heard they are very particular about the reading section. Thank you,

Gansu

I believe it was both. They set a passing score for the reading section as well as for the composite score.

I believe we lost more students than that...Ms. Miller is counting with only 33 spots for check offs:uhoh3:

It's actually 39 students signed up for ck-off (not including the 2 extra).

like I said we only lost around 10 out of 48. We still have a healthy

size class & for the most part many of them left on their own.

So Malarwen look again;) !

Hi studentque,

you're right, I checked it today. Wow, I guess Ms. Miller said the wrong number. It's good to know that our class is doing ok. Before that I was really nervous.

Thanks,

Malarwen

Just want to vent......I'm in the 4th semester and things are NOT going well.....just had the 4th of 4 tests and it was NOT pretty....most people that stayed for the review failed again (most failed the 3rd test also).....

I am SOOOOO depressed! I am three weeks from pinning and not sure I am gonna make it......was do "fairly well" until the last two tests.....

my confidence is SHOT!

thanks for listening!

Now you are scaring the heck out of me - I might be in the fall class.

Be a nurse - I'm having the same problem. I just sent you a private message with my email.

I made a B on the 1st test, barely failed the 2nd test and have failed the last 2. Yesterday's was a shocker. I felt SO prepared and even felt like I had done pretty well after I finished. When I left the review I just cried and cried. To make it this far, to have your invitations for pinning, to be interviewing for jobs and to not make it is unbelievable. I just don't see how they're going to fail all of us. There's 26 of us left. Probably what, 8 or 9 are passing?

I'm so frustrated and sad and don't know what to do. I couldn't have studied any more for that test.

Beanurse,

What about the final exam? You can still make it!! Good luck and don't give up!!:nono: ;)

yea....I can still make it with the final but it is just very dissappointing to have to worry all the way down to two pays before pinning (when they finally post the final grades)......I am not comfortable inviting anyone to the pinning that I am not sure I will be at!

I do not want to say too much negative becuase I do not want to cause any stress for everyone that is in 1st or 2nd semester.....this program is "doable" because SOME people have graduated...and I know that I have learned a lot and will be a great nurse....IF I make it.....but it is VERY hard and the 4th semester is BY FAR the hardest! (for me!) You have to pull EVERYTHING you have learned from the whole program and put it all together and on paper that does not sound that bad....but it is not as easy as it seems.

I am trying to stay positive but it is really hard when I have seen so many of my classmates who would be WONDERFUL nurses not make it. Next could be me! :chair: :uhoh3:

Well all we can do is our best on the final. I need to make about an 82 on the final to pass (or an 86)...I've been playing around with my numbers based on what I think I made on the test yesterday. That doesn't seem like such a high grade to make but when you've been making 70's it does.

I wish the BEST of luck. I started GPC's nursing program in the fall of 2004 (Lawrenceville) and didn't make it through the second semester. I would have been graduating with you next month. You can do it! You've made it sooo much further than most of us.

But also, I appreciate what you said, about so many who would have been wonderful nurses not make it. For those of us who had to withdraw, life for a while was so hard, because you feel like such an idiot having to quit to save your GPA. I've finally realized that that program doesn't define me, and I'm moving on.

Again, good luck to you. You can do it!
