GPC Spring 2016 Graduates

Published

Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.

Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that GPC has put their fall schedule up...Fundamentals is T/W from 9-1 with the first week being a "frontload" and meeting T/W from 9-3...it also says that clinical possibilities will be th, fr, sa, or su either from 7-3 or 3-11. I know this doesn't cover things like labs and other extras, or give a definite clinical time, but at least it gives us an idea! I know I have to arrange for childcare so this is a huge help:) Hope everyone is enjoying summer!

Can you please tell me how to access this info?

Being optimistic is key, I never listen to negativity. Who cares about how "most" students perform in the program. Take responsibility for your own education and success. Putting the blame on a professor is very childish. I don't know about you guys but I still can't wait to start!! :)

Many people failed on the 1st try, I know of at least 10. Some people found jobs straight away (GMC and Dekalb Medical), others had to move to Macon. I know Dekalb has put a freeze on hiring ADN's, GMC hires their externs.

Specializes in NICU.

I am going into my second year in the program and I can understand what the poster means about some of the instructors. Some of them are awesome and really want you to succeed and some of them act like they are annoyed by questions, or they don't want to be bothered, things like that. I don't think it's just GPC though, every school is going to have its good and bad instructors. I have noticed questions on tests that were never covered in class also, but they also expect you to do A LOT of reading outside of lecture. I hate to say I'm really bad about always getting my readings done, so not sure if the questions are pulled from there lol. Everyone's experience is going to be different, but I have really enjoyed it at GPC so far, I still have one more year though so I'm still working at it. No doubt its tough, but just go in ready to work hard, stay positive and remember where you'll be in two years. :)

This is a response to Nurse2B2016:)

The actual schedule says 9-1 then it says in the notes it will front load and the class will meet from 9-3...I assumed the extra 2 hours was the "front load" and that the typical schedule will be 9-1 but that could be wrong!!!

Go to Current Students > Student Information and Registration System > Class Schedule > then just do a search for Nursing classes for Fall 2014

Question....it looks like in October we will add Thursday to our schedule as well....for clinical nursing? It's a 1000 class so I am assuming that is for 1st year students??? Anyone know how many clinical days we will have?

So nervous about all the stuff to buy before August! Anyone else nervous?

No way!! you're definitely not alone :) we can be nervous together lol

Are you taking classes this summer? I am taking communication and nursing calculations. Have you done any of the stuff yet in the list? I haven't yet.....just saving funds.

I am also taking public speaking. I'm taking it online. I haven't even attempted the list bc I am also trying to save for everything. I think I found where I will do my CPR but again just saving and will likely tackle that next month. How about you? I just keep telling myself, one step at a time lol
