GPC Spring 2016 Graduates

Here is a place that we could start discussing the next part of our journey in nursing school.

Has anyone read the book they suggested in our acceptance letters? I bought it off amazon and I am excited to read it!!!

Anyone still waiting to hear on other schools that they applied too?

The tentative schedule for bootcamp is 8:45/9:00-4:00 each day.

What stethoscope are you all planning to purchase?

I'm not sure yet....there is such a wide variety and price ranges. Of course, I have heard you should get a Littmann....but several people have told me some of the cheaper ones are just as good. I am very interested to hear what everyone is thinking on this too.

A nurse friend of mine recommended getting something middle of the road...she said really expensive stethoscopes tend to grow legs in school:) But at the same time don't get something so bottom of the line you can't hear! I bought my 3 year old a cheapo Prestige Medical so she would have her own and leave mine alone...I could actually hear really well with it so I ended up buying another Prestige Medical that was a little nicer...it is the light weight...I think I paid about $30 on Amazon...I will buy something nicer than that if I don't think this one is meeting my needs down the line...I'm liking it so far though!

What about shoes? Does anyone know what they mean by clogs? I'm hoping they mean backless because I already have white danskos that I was planning on wearing...I got them super cheap on ebay though so at least if I have to buy tennis shoes I'm not out too much!

pbjclan , thanks on the boot camp time.

Yes, anybody, please share if "no clogs" mean backless. I was wondering the same thing. Also I have a Prestige Medical stethoscope I may stick to (if I'm able to hear from it well during this nurse aid class this semester) -or- I may invest in a middle of the road one as mentioned.

Anything that anybody can share would be a blessing. Thanks everyone. :)

I'm pretty late to the game, but I received my acceptance letter for the Fall 2014 program yesterday! I immediately searched for a thread like this on this website and I'm happy one is created! So excited :) I started to go back and read the whole thread but after the second page I got too excited and just wanted to post! So hello!

I verified with GPC that slip on shoes are fine, as long as they have a back!
