Governator kicks nurses butts!!!

Published

In an article in todays Los Angeles Times in the California section Ahnold tells a group of supporters during an annual conference on women to "pay no attention to those voices over there", referring to a group of nurses who were protesting his freeze on the staffing ratio law. "They are the special interests, and you know what I mean. The special interests in Sacramento don't like me because I am always KICKING THEIR BUTTS!!" Anyone care to comment on this? Sorry I am unable to cut and paste the article but the latimes has a website: http://www.latimes.com if anyone would like to view the article called "Cheers and Jeers Greet Gov."

Specializes in Emergency Room.
Arnold and Maria will NEVER have to compete with 8 or 9 other patients in the hospital for decent nursing care, not will their relatives, and they know it.......... so that is really a non-issue. That is partly why, I am sure, Arnold feels so confident reversing the progress toward safer ratios is a-ok. It pleases his special interests and fellow rich citizens for whom adequate nursing care need not be an issue-----as long as such care can be bought privately by them, or received in hospitals that have units that cater to rich citizens exclusively, why should they care??? As for the rest of us, too darn bad.

you are sooo right about this. i see it all the time where i work, if a V.I.P. comes in for nursing care they roll out the red carpet. once they even painted a room for a famous person after his heart surgery, complete with a new lounge chair. it's absolutely sickening. unfortunately that's the kind of world we live in. :o

Maybe I should call Arnold the next time I have 13 patients and only a LPN working with 13 patients. It is pretty bad when you don't get to open your charts until an hour before you go home. I love nursing, but it is getting to the point where it takes the whole two days off to recover from two 12 hour shifts. I ask for help and all I get is There is none. Let the administration get up out of their lily white castles and help. Then we wold be in trouble. Oh Sorry I'm bitter.

SKH RN and I want my Msn?????????????:angryfire

the ratio is not 1:13 or at least that is my understanding for the acutes.. try being in ltc and having 32 residents!!!... with 4 cna;s.. there are NO NURSES out there!!!.. as stated before.. i advertise.. they don't come.. i offer a month orientation.. they don't come..!!!.. it isn't management.. it is the times we are living in!!!

You need to come to our Hospital and IT is the administration

We are talking about a mixed Peds unit with adults who are so chronically addicted to narc then never go home for days. So I guess we can stick the Doc's in here also. These patients are very needy and alert.

I'm finding that the :nurses coming out to day have been taught to do paper work and to be Butt nurses thinking tht when in charge they don't need to take patients Yes I'm burnt it has been a good 27 years when you can spend time with the patient but they continue to bury us with paper. What we need is people who care not just someone looking for money, cause there ain't no big money here.

i am finding that the rn's today only want to supervise.. they don't want to push pills.. and do direct care.. of course.. this is ltc and so i can't necessarily speak for acute.. any other ltc nurses find the same thing??..

Clearly the *** is an actor. He can afford a private nurse. Health and the staff:patint ratio is not a concern of HIS special interest group(the haves). One day, it'll hit him. Dont quit your day job ahnold, and I mean acting.

CJ is right...rich people have absolutely no idea what is going on ... it is like working on a budget...if you don't have enough nurses to do the job properly you have to make do with what you have..... if they need a new car they send the butler down to pick one up, if they need a nurse their personal attentent calls up and agency and they have one on one care 24/7 if they hear someone who disagrees with them about ratio they do not listen...they say 'do not listen to those people...i am bigger than they are and i can still do what i want... i wonder if he ever listens to himself

Hi,

What's a goverator?

a combination of the governer and terminator.. thus .. governator

Hi,

What's a goverator?

I am not sure what you are saying to me. I merely was trying to tell what little bit I knew about Arnold as a person.
In my opinion for whatever it is worth?? I think it is all about money. People can hide behind the pretense of caring for the patients, but what it boils down to our license. Don't get me wrong that is how I make my living. Why is it always about protecting the patient's rights. What about the nurse's rights. Are we sub-humans with accountability for everything. Who protects us the Safe Harbor act does not protect the nurse. It was designed to protect the patient. The BNE was designed to protect the patient from us Evil nurses. Our administration uses us beyond our scope of practice anytime they can benefit with no thought to how it affects us nurses. We are under paid and over worked for the accountability the states and national government put on us. Does anyone out there have anything to say about this. Please respond. I am very frustrated. They want to bring in foreign nationals and speed them through our systems. Then they put them in the hospitals, this only sets them up to fail. They cannot adapt to our society's needs without the proper training and experience.
