  1. When I was in my BSN program which I would not recommend to anyone, My tears came from anger. Anger do to the cheating that was going on under the instructors noses. I still think they knew who and when and they, still passed them. My satisfaction was being able to say I pass my board the first time. They took their several times. Yes Girls and Boys there is a word called WEEDING and schools do it very frequently:angryfire
  2. I have been in the medical field since I was fourteen as a Candy Stripper. Those were the good old days when you did not see the bad parts in nursing. Then I grew up to be a Nurses Aide, not so bad but you could still enjoy your patients and get some satisfaction. On and upper to the LPN. I truly miss those days, Nothing against RN's but they sat on their butts and we were the care givers. Now I'm an RN BSN wanting really badly to get my MSN so I can teach. I do adjunct with a two year college and actually found enjoyment again with nursing. The administrators of the hospitals are clueless unless they have been nurses and then they forget and get their heads above the water and leave us to drown. Sorry if I'm stepping on toes former nurses, but the truth shines through. I worked for a hospital for 17 years of my life and what did I get? NOTHING they did not know that I was gone for at least 6 months when they saw me on the street shopping. Now I work in a smaller community hospital and I swear there are microphones every where, or a lot of snitches. What is trust anymore??? My patient are my priority and I do the best I can with what I can. I love nursing, but I don't love what it has turned into. I love to sit and make my patients laugh, but don't get any over time doing it(sure) "We want the best for the patient, but make sure you get those charge stickers in so we get our money." I get tired of hearing it just like you all do. This is my 32nd year and I'm proud to have climbed the ladder, but I too also feel the burn of the fire to get out. Please fellow nurses keep up the good work and boltster each other with good thoughts:redbeathe
  3. FLK = funny looking kid (we always called the geri's gomers in the pysch unit I worked in) GP
  4. RN BSN 36 hours a week 15 years experience 52.000 ayear 3 7p to 7a Quincy Il Remember I didn't start out at that!!!!!!!! Thai is a long way from $11.95 an hour.
  5. OK Let me put a scenario in front of you. A patient is dying and his family isn't there or he has none and it is 2 am in the morning, no chalpin around and this patient wants you to pray with them. Are you going to say I don't believe in God or pray. Maybe say "Wait a minute while I get someone else, don't die yet!!!!!" Have you seen a baby born or held it after it was born? I think you are too young to decide what you believe in right now. I believe the experience you will recieve in nursing will make you a believer. I'm not critizing you. You will find somethings are unexplainable and that is the way it is supposed to be. Maybe you need to reexamine where you started believing the way you do now.
  6. Poop on the not taking something for what ails ya. After 28 years I would have hurt someone and it would not have been a patient.
  7. Trauma Nurse I have been working on my NP in Peds. Had to take a break for Family medical problems. I just think something different after 28 years might work. Believe me I don't get bored. I also transport ground
  8. I know we arre not the only place to do what ever is going on. rumor has it That people can afford to get care anymore and are staying home. I know that the peddies are treating in the office more and more which take from the hosp.
  9. Calling all nurses who can help this burnt nurse to pheonix. I have been an RN for ten years and these were to be the happiest years of my life.7 years til retirement. As an LPN I could talk with my patients and spend time knowing I could make a difference the care. Don't get me wrong I love nursing and the field I'm in which is Peds. I don't mind taking care of adults and elderly, but when they mix a census on the same floor, that just AIN'T right for anyone. The hospital will tell you one story about closing a floor then the next week it is a different story. You walk through the halls and staff makes comments about how they hate it here but can't do anything to change because of the "good" money and and insurance they need. Stuck in a hard spot. They give us no way to vent except among our self and if Union is mentioned well don't even think about it. My questions is to travel or not. life is tooooo short to live unhappy. Imagine this in a the wonderful Midwest state of Illinois.:angryfire
  10. I get out of the shower and use a cotton ball soaked with generic listerine and it has worked now waiting for the regrowth. I thought it was crazy but guess what. We always don't need a RX
  11. Good Luck and God Bless I'm sticking with experience. It has got me through some tough time in codes and life experiences. Just make sure you have good Malpractice insurance.
  12. I may be old fashion,BUT I don't want a green NP taking care of me as a Patient who has not had any experience. I have been a Nurse for 28 years 18 of which I was a LPN,10 as a RN. I have 2 years into a NP program and if I hadn't had my experience I would have a hard time.. Think about it do you just want someone who is book smart
