I can't believe it. What a blessing, got my dream job as a new grad in a hospital, as an OB Nurse, less than a month after taking my boards... Can't wait to start my new journey! Good luck to all you other new grads looking for jobs. Stay positive it can happen , in a hospital, and with only and ASN!

Congrats! I'm sure you will be an awesome nurse.
Thank you... I read so many posts on how it's nearly impossible to land a job as a new grad, and forget about having an ASN... Oh and I live in New York also! And not upstate!

Hi Nursewr,
Congratulations!!!! I'm sure this is well deserved. You're exactly where I am working to be. I'm just finishing my ADN at CUNY I'll be taking my boards in the summer. I decided to become a nurse to work with women and my ideal first job would be in a hospital working in LD, or mother/baby unit. Can you give me any information on how to look for and get such a position.
I kept in touch with the nurses and management where I did my clinicals. Definitely stay in touch with them via email or phone. I think keeping in touch is the key. Also start talking with recruiters at hospitals that you are interested in. Good luck with everything.
For me I didn't keep in contact with unit managers etc. I just developed good relationships with my clinical instructors and they spoke to people on my behalf. That's what worked immediately for me. I've learned people will tell you many things and say they will help when u graduate but don't come thru. But good luck to you !

Personality is everything when competing in the job market. Looking good doesn't hurt either.
