Anyone have any suggestions on a brand/type?
I know that white will show through to some degree, but I noticed some of what I have looked at are transparent.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

I have white Dickies tops and they seem fairly hard to see through. Are you allowed to wear a second shirt underneath? I usually wear either a long sleeved white t-shirt or a white cami under my scrub tops, and it hasn't been a problem at all. My instructors have not cared so far.
(Although I will admit that I regretted that second shirt one day when I had a pt who had their room's thermostate at 83!!)
If you aren't allowed to wear a second shirt, you could always put on a tank top or camisole underneath.
Not sure about white pants, though.

Bought a pair of inexpensive white scrub pants at WalMart that you can't see through even with colored underwear. The fabric is thick and hasn't softened/thinned down after many washings with bleach. Didn't buy the white top, so I would have to refer you to the above poster for that.

I found that dickies makes white slacks that you cant see through. Its the same material that they make their work slacks out of...not sure if they have ladies sizes but It may be worth a look.
Thanks for the responses. I mean, they were so see-through that you could even see the color of my skin through the fabric...and I have very fair skin!
I'm also going to try the cami idea...I can stock up this summer while they are popular.
The nursing program here requires "white underwear", but I disagree with that...white shows through clothes...beige doesn't...I'm going to try to wear the beige..I don't think they'll flip out as long as they don't see stars and stripes on my panties! HA!

i dont know if those Dickies come in women's/misses sizes....but if you have a short rise(distance from chair seat to waist, when seated) the mens may work for you....mens pants are usually made with a split waist band, in the back were they can be "let out/in"...the other issue would be the width in the thigh....wont know unless you try...good luck

It's not scrubs' style, but I had some white Cherokee pants from a nursing uniform store that were comfortable and sturdy and a flattering cut as well! They washed well and maintained their shape. They worked fine with scrub style tops or other styles as well. Consider spending more than the bare minimum on your outfits so you can get higher quality materials. Not only are the thicker synthetic fabrics not see-through, they hold up longer through many washings and don't get as wrinkly as some of the cheaper, thinner fabrics.

Wal*Mart's white pants are a nice, heavy twill.

I wear Peaches white pants and I love them, the material is thick but not too thick and you can't see through them at all.
Thanks again...I'm definititely willing to spead a little on my scrubs...I'll be wearing them for the next two years, and I can't stand it when I see people who look like they showed up to work wearing pajamas versus scrubs.
I think I may have to go to the next large city over (this is a small town) where they have a larger variety. The place I went had a TON of scrubs...but all of them were colored and only one very small section of whites.
Try here.

*shudders* Ive already been traumatized by the see through white paints thing before. I ended up getting dickies pants. Comfy, plenty of room down under, and NOT nearly as transparent as my walmart scrub bottoms. Good luck!
