  1. Hi All.. I am needing some advice/help.. I just graduated in August of 07 and have been working a nursing home since then but I just got a job in a busy Cardiologist's office and I am starting on Thursday...I'm very nervous because I'm a new nurse and don't have a lot of experience with cardiology since being in the nursing home I don't really have a lot of experience with all the different kinds of meds, doing EKGs, stress tests, tilt tables..all that kind of stuff and I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice or tips to to help me not feel like a complete idiot and also not to look stupid in front of my new boss.....lol Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
  2. just wondering where you are from, vicklynn? that sounds like a really great job to me!
  3. Does anyone know if many hospitals are willing to hire GVN's at all? I have considered CareNow because I've seen their ads, but I would like to find some other choices...
  4. I am also wondering about this too, as I am graduating this month. I have been looking online and haven't found any openings posted. It's pretty discouraging...
  5. Does anyone know of any scrub/uniform stores in the Dallas area? I have searched the internet for some, but haven't come across any listings...
  6. I had no idea that the failing numbers were like this! We started with 18 and are down to 10, we graduate in two weeks...
  7. Ok I see what you are saying. I was unsure whether or not I can say I have experience in doing those things that you mentioned as well as others. Since I have been in school for 1 year, am I able to say that I have 1 year of experience in those tasks? I appreciate the help, we have a chapter to go over about writing resumes, but I have already read it and I have to say, it's very short and doesn't help much! :uhoh21:
  8. This might be better suited in the student section, but I wanted some advice from LVN's. I am a student vocational nurse who will graduate on the 17th of August and I am in desperate need of help writing a resume. I have been looking for jobs online (because I'm relocating after school) and they all require a resume to be submitted. I have NO nursing/medical experience and have limited other work experience. I don't really know what to put on my resume as far as experience or skills with nursing...basically I'm just clueless! Any input would be much appreciated!
  9. I'm glad you found a class to take. In our school, we don't have a specific IV class, but we learned out to start them during clinicals on the hospital floor...I had no idea you had to be IV certified..I'll have to ask my instructor if we will be.
  10. Thanks for the info... I have been thinking about nursing homes as an option too. I don't know much about Ft. Worth..but I will look into those..thanks again!!
  11. Hi everyone.. I am get closer and closer to graduating from LVN school and I am planning to move to Dallas, I lived there once, but left to go to school and now I can't wait to go back. I am just curious if there are any LVN's (or anyone) out there who have any recommendations for hospitals to work for? I have been looking at job openings and stuff like that to get ideas, but there aren't many ads for LVN's. I'm really interested in working in a hospital, but are they eager to hire new grads? I am growing increasingly nervous about be sent of on my own once I'm out of school so I hope to find some place to feel comfortable in. Thanks for any input...
  12. I bought the Littman Lightweight II, I believe it's the cheapest Littman and I'm really happy with it, it's light and it sounds great. I think it's better to go with a more inexpensive one while in school just because it could get stolen or lost easily, but that's just me... I always forget mine in places too, I'm surprised I still have it!
  13. Yeah, I had a hard time finding white pants for school. I got some from our tiny wal-mart, they only had 1 kind and they were thin and plain and they did look like pajamas..lol..but my sister found the Peaches and they are so cute and have a lot of different styles and they're comfy too.. I wish our instructors wouldn't make us wear white.
  14. I wear Peaches white pants and I love them, the material is thick but not too thick and you can't see through them at all.
