Golden West College (GWC) ADN Fall 2023

Hey!  It might be a little early to start this, given that applications aren't open yet, but I noticed that the multi-criteria points system was updated in September 2022.  I thought I remembered being in better shape when I looked at the old points system in past semesters ? so I was curious to hear from anyone else who is planning to apply and see where we all stand.  

I haven't taken the TEAS yet, but not including my TEAS score I have 56 points so far, and I'll have a max of 81 depending on my score.  

It is already May 29th. I really hope we get a response soon! It is truly a continuous cycle of anxiety waking up and not hearing anything...

I know it is frustrating ? It should be any day now though. You got this. They say waiting is the easy part so relish in it. I hope you get in!

One of the hardest things for me was waiting for admission or denial. I was a ball of stress and I did what I could to distract myself. Let's just say my house never looked cleaner.

I talk to some of the admin people on Friday and they planned to start notifying people of general (non-concurrent) enrollment by May 31st/June 1st. No guarantee - as I mentioned earlier - since I wasn't notified a month and a half after I was supposed to be for my application cycle.

 

All I can say is hang in there as best you can and good luck!

Thank you for this, I already got into Santa Ana and waiting for GWC since I prefer it. It's also frustrating since I have to start doing things for Santa Ana already but am waiting for this acceptance...

Thank you for this! I'll be looking for it tomorrow then, I honestly need to start knowing so I can start doing my tasks for Santa Ana college. I appreciate you!

I REALLY HOPE we get notified by end of day tomorrow because I can't take all this anxiety any longer! ? Good luck everyone. Counting down the hours until we hear something

Hi All,

I just received a phone call from someone over at GWC asking if I was still interested in the CEP as I marked yes to be considered on my application. However, I never received an email stating I was accepted into GWC's nursing program at all.. I already accepted a spot with SAC's program so hopefully you guys will hear from them soon. Good luck!

Wow that is so strange! I feel like they're messy LOL I don't see why it is so difficult to just send out acceptances promptly and at once. Makes it difficult for students who already are committed to a program and need to start doing things for that program but are still waiting on GWC acceptances...

Wow that is kind of messy.. especially because the CEP orientation at cal state San Bernardino is tomorrow morning already and in person. Congrats on SAC! My coworker goes there and he likes it a lot.

Yeah I have a feeling they got a little disorganized with the overwhelming amount of people they need to accept this application cycle. I hope all of you guys hear back from them soon ;(

Right, my thoughts exactly! I didn't even ask if this meant that I was accepted LOL. I didn't want to waste her time so I was honest & said I accepted a spot elsewhere. But based off of their process so far, it's quite a turn off & confusing. ?

How many points did you have? Just for reference so we know where they're at so far in selections

I'm glad you feel the same. That's nice and saves your time too that you were honest. I'm settled on SAC right now too! They need me to send out my transcripts and all that but I'm hesitating since I don't want to waste money for them if I choose GWC instead. So annoyed LOL! Major turn off like you said.

Just got this from one of the administrative staff - we are emailing on other things:

"Just an FYI. Unfortunately notifications will not be sent out today if anyone is asking. We are working on the CEP first then moving on to ADN.

Hopefully they will be out soon. We will update the website soon."

I know it is difficult to wait, as I had to do the same myself and it is very frustrating. At the same time, although the acceptance is done by an Admissions committee, the actual organization of applicants and candidates is done by only 2-3 people. I know them and they do work as hard as they can - they do not like missing deadlines and they are sympathetic to applicants frustrations and stress - but they are only human. I do know that there are over 400 applicants this cycle and they are starting several things at once (Concurrent, increase # of applicants in general, doing acceptance for BOTH semesters).  I'm not asking you to be patient or "Suck it Up," far from it. What I'm saying is that know your applications and stress are taken seriously by those who must sort it and they are doing what they can to get the proper word to you.

Hopefully you will find out soon and it is good news.
