I am debating whether or not to attend the pinning ceremony. At first it was going to be a faculty member pin us...then some girls in our class argued in front of the class with the pinning committee because they wanted to choose who pins them. So now we have to choose someone to pin us. Well, problem is...I am not close to my family at all. They have not supported me and have created major stress during the program. I asked my preceptor to pin me, but she may have to work that day. I could have my boyfriend pin me, but I'm not sure if I want to (sounds bad right lol, but its not).
I guess I am just venting, but to any of you who did not attend yours do you regret not going?

Let us know if you decide to go and if you're glad you did.
I plan on going to mine. Ive made some really awesome friends, and this is the last time we'll ever see everyone in the same room again. Very sad, and what a memorable moment.
I didnt go to prom, or even high school graduation...didnt care enough to go I guess
But this is something I truly care about, and I am inviting anyone with legs to come watch me get pinned LOL People whom I haven't seen in 20 years, yeah come watch me get pinned, you'll know what I look like when they say my name
With that said, definitely a personal experience
There are some in my program who choose not to go ..I could care less either way, just would be nice to see them again...especially for the first time as a nurse, no longer a student.
Ours was mandatory but I was planning to go anyway so that didn't matter to me. It was beautiful, I was glowing and happy to be finally done with the nursing program and my husband got to pin me.
OP, you should go if you really want to. It doesn't have to be family that pins you, it could be friends too. Congratulations to you!!
One of my best friends decided a trip to Mexico was a better celebration. I went to pinning, with serious reservations, but hopefully my kids remember it as a sort of end to the misery of mom being in school. The private celebrations afterward had a lot more meaning personally. My friend has no regrets, instead she toasted us all on the beach at the time of the ceremony. She didn't miss anything, the accomplishment of nursing school is not defined by a ceremony. No one can take that away from you, even if you don't attend pinning.

Go! Find someone there to pin you. I did not go to mine as I was more interested in looking for a job to feed my family. My wife just graduated yesterday, we went to her ceremony and it was very nice.
