Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

NanaVana has lab, but she doesn't really come on here. I think we need the kit!

Does anyone have lab tomorrow?We just bring our stuff listed on the sheet and vital signs right?or do we need our kit too?

I have lab tomorrow. I was wondering the same thing. I was just going to bring the steth and bp cuff but maybe bring the kit in case?

Yea I think the one teacher said bring it and the other one said we didn't need it lol so I'm just bringing it and having it in my car just in case we need it.

I'm all day Tuesday. Can't wait! I'm moving my son back into school on Saturday and working on Monday, so just a few free days until then!

Hi everyone - how are you? I'm a Fall 2012 nursing program "hopeful" - I'm sorry for intruding in this 2011 thread but I'm just looking for some advice (and no one answered my new thread - haha!) I just joined this forum and I'm hoping some website veterens/students already enrolled in the GCC nursing program might be able to help me out with their experience! :D

I'm a mom of 2 (toddler and newborn) and am hoping to be admitted to the Fall 2012 program at GCC. I took the HESI before I had my 2nd baby when I actually had time to study for it ;) (and when the sciences were still fresh in my mind after taking A&Ps I and II). I received a cumulative score of 86.22 and have As in both A&Ps. In a perfect world, I'd keep taking the HESI over and over but finances and babies just don't allow it, haha. Can I have someone's honest opinion on whether or not this is enough to make it into the program? Good luck to everyone who is having orientation soon! I hope to hear from someone.

Students made it in this year with that score, so I'd think you'd have a good shot....as long as the applicant pool is the same. I would think about giving it one more try to be sure!

We had orientation last week and the first group had lab today!

Thank you so much for the quick reply and advice. I will be taking it again - just have to figure out when. I'm hoping that 2012 hopefuls see the post I created so we can have our own little support network like you all did. I've read through a lot of it and I wish you all the best of luck!:p

Lab went well! We went over the syllabus and took an inventory of our nursing kits.Then we fed each other jello and water lol.After that we learned how to tie a restraint onto the bed and practiced some vitals,we took blood pressure and apical pulse.We will be doing this all again on Friday, but going into it a little further.
