Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

I am not 100% on this, but I was under the impression that we were not supposed to go to the practice lab before we had our first lab. Double check that. I remember the research teacher saying something about us learning how in the regular lab and practicing those skills in the practice lab.

You are correct she did say that. The lab is mostly open this week for upperclassmen, because we are going to be tested on some things the week that we return. However, I do not think you all are not welcome to be there. The thing is they will not teach you how to do skills that you have not already learned in your scheduled lab class. The lab is really more for practicing learned skills. Again, I cannot speak on behalf of the lab staff, but I think if you showed up they wouldn't kick you out. I know that several upperclassmen will be there practicing, so there will be people in the lab.

Are you all stressing? If it makes you feel any better...we are too! LOL

Momtofore, I was in group 3 with you! I just haven't been around online because I've been insanely busy (I know you all are too!) trying to get ready for the semester with a new baby and a toddler running around! Does anyone know if we are only supposed to complete Lesson 1 from the dosage calculation practice or if we are supposed to complete all of the lessons? I'm still just trying to organize all this stuff I haven't even started doing the new assignments we were given at orientation. I feel so behind already and school hasn't even started! Also, is anyone hole punching the clinical tools sheets or is everyone just putting them in a normal folder? I like to hole punch everything and put it in binders with tabs so leaving it in a folder is going to drive me nuts haha.

It is a lot of work to get done!I printed everything out from the drive and whole punched all my papers and made separate binders for lab, clinical and class.I broke them down into sections so I know where I need to look for things. I want to be organized as much as possible!

As for the math lessons It says to print them out and start working on them. For lab 2 it says that lesson 1 and 2 are due.I printed them all out and was going to start working on some of them.

I haven't even started on the evolve things yet, I was going to yesterday, but with all the hype over the hurricane thingas got too crazy lol.I'm hoping to do some of that today.Has anyone else started on them?

I did module 1 and took the module 1 final. But I am unsure of what we have to print. I printed the actual results from the final (which is every question printed with it). Is that it or is there another report?

Thanks for your help! I know I need to read the syllabus for each class but I just got everything printed out finally today. Does anyone know if we can take the post-tests for the evolve lessons without it counting against our grade if we don't score perfectly? I would like to use the post test as a review, but I don't want it to affect my grade.

I'm a little confused with the evolve. For the first module we complete all 6 lessons and take the exam, but are we allowed to take the post tests first, since were completing the whole thing? For module 2 we only complete lesson 1 and 2 so we just do those two post tests not the exam, and the same for module 3?

I haven't started any of the assignments yet. I'm starting tomorrow though and will give my :twocents: then, ok?

Yes that was my interpretation. That is what I completed. :)

Hey did you ever find out who your faculty contact was? I didn't and I am not sure if I missed something somewhere...I thought they said we would find out during orientation. Anyway, I was looking at the letter to students and it says to print out all items in the clinical folder. I am not sure what folder that is. The only folder that uses the word "clinical" is clinical tools....is that what they are talking about?

Okay thanks!I just wanted to make sure I was doing this right.

I was also unsure if we were told who our faculty contact was. There was so much information given to us that I could not remember if they went over that.

I printed out all the papers in the clinical tool folder, I think that's what they're referring to.
