Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

I took the critical thinking class and learned nothing new...every class we have taken up to this point has covered an aspect of critical thinking. It is implemented in every GCC class. Easy A but not really worth the money if that is an issue.

Thanks for the info, nurse2b2013!

I have an extra brand new Rx notes that I'll sell for a discount. Don't ask. :smackingf

Hey all. I just found out about this site and am happy to see that you have made it into the program. I've also been accepted in the GCC nursing program. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi Rlaute99 and welcome! How are you progressing with getting all of your books and uniforms? We'll be trying to get together again (right, gang?) before school starts. Let me know if you are interested!

Me too... Like an idiot I bought the pda version and the hard copy...I don't have a pda. I was going to get an ipod but that fell through...I was going to try to sell it to the book store at the end of the semester but if someone needs it, I would be happy to sell it to them for much cheaper than the bookstore is charging. Don't feel too bad momtofour at least you aren't the only one ;)

Ordering my uniforms today actually, are we allowed to have white scrub tops for clinical or is that not okay? Also need to get my books still. Did everyone complete the calculations packet that we have to bring with us to orientation??

Yes, we can have white scrub top with one pocket on left chest only (though I wonder if others will get tops w/more pockets). I haven't written out the calculations yet, but have done them mentally to see if there was anything challenging. Amazon has the best prices if you are buying new for anywhere from $3 to $18 each (or something like that).

Is everyone aware of the free Amazon Prime two-day shipping with our student email addresses? Makes shipping free and really quick!

I haven't gotten my scrub top yet...I really hate the ones with the left chest pocket...does anyone know if it matters if we get a white scrub top that has two lower pockets? Maybe someone who's been through the program? How strict are they on the uniform thing?

Dannipoint wrote and asked and they said one chest pocket and no others. No limit to number of pockets in the pants (e.g. cargo). I would also prefer top w/one chest and 2 lower. The cuts are much nicer. I'd even sew the lower two shut or remove them to keep the peace! I'm considering doing just that. For now I've got 2 polo shirts. I figure I'll wait to do the scrub top after I see how it plays out.

Did anyone get the nursing kit yet?

And yes I contacted one of the professors & she told me to make sure the scrub top is only one left pocket and the pants can be as many as you'd like :)

I am going into my 3rd semester and have always worn a white scrub top with the upper pocket and two lower pockets. I guess it depends on your clinical instructor.
