Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
Hi guys! I just wanted to say I'm having a really hard time deciding between leaving my bf and going to school in nj. I was thinking I could apply to schools here (i know it's hard and competitive) but that would mean my bf and I could stay together. But then my books and uniforms and supplies would go to waste. I don't know what to do!!! I'm so confused..... i would appreciate any advice please. Thanks :)

Think long term . . .
School will end, your career will begin. Don't postpone entering nursing school and risk having to wait to gain acceptance into another state's program, possible needing to fulfill substantially-different coursework requirements.
True love waits, and endures nursing school.

Thanks. I have some really tough decisions to make.......
I agree in large part with Skeletor. It IS tough to have a long-distance relationship, but many people do it. If you were able to start school there this semester or even January it would be a different story. Though it's also true that you would need only to wait a year. Does he have a job up there lined up already (I think you said he did). Would you definitely be able to be in a program next fall? Will the two of you definitely still be together next fall? How do your parents feel about the situation?
This is something to give long, hard thought to though...
Yes. He starts working tomorrow at pheonix house. My mom is ok with me staying here...... and I'm pretty sure Iwill be able to apply here and be accepted somewhere I have a 3.94 gpa right now, i would just have to take some admission exams before I apply. Some colleges here offer fall and spring admission. Most prereqs are the same except for like 2 or 3 classes I would need to take. I contacted some colleges, so I'm waiting until they get back to me. I want to make sure most of my classes will transfer before I make any major decisions.
I'm sure your GPA is plenty high enough, and you can handle the admission exams no problem! It would be great if you could find spring admission and can get any necessary classes in this fall. I guess making sure GCC's classes transfer would be a real swing point. I don't think it would be worth it to have to start all over again! I would visit one another every other weekend if that were the case- NY is not that far away.
If it were me, my steps now would be to look at admission requirements for a number of schools and get with their contacts right away to see what classes will transfer in.
Keep us posted!
I'm researching adelphi, phillips beth isreal, college of new rochelle, and long island university right now and some community colleges. I really want to stay here but I'm not sure which will be the best option. I'm waiting for them to reply back to my email. I will definitely keep you posted :) Thanks for the advice cindy i appreciate it!
