Hi everyone!
Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~
It states on the packet to not hand in incomplete packets........I have all of my lab work in and papers filled out, but am still waiting on the CPR certification....so I am handing in everything together. You can always call the department with any questions, they called me back within 24hrs when I left a message....
I think it's best to hand in everything together. If they were missing something that important, I'm sure they would be in some sort of contact with us....
nurd, your probably right. I'm not going to worry about it until I get my lab results back...... and cpr certification.
It seems like i might need to go back for another shot too...... it never stated on my records that i had the varicella vaccine..... and i can't remember if I did or not.... but I did already have the chicken pox.... so i guess once the blood test results come back they can see if I'm immune to it or not.
I have a question about the pink medical questionnaire, do we check full time or part time.I wasn't sure since we will be only taking 8 credits. Also on the white paper it says course title?Would that be Nursing I.I know these are probably stupid questions, but I just want to make sure lol.
ctine05, I checked full time at first..... but then i checked part time since it's only 8 credits. It's really up to you and how many classes you intend to take in the fall. For the white paper I put the course title as the classes I registered for. (NUR 130 05 and NUR 131 08) Hope this helps :) And no question is stupid. If you don't ask a question, you'll never know.
Sorry, Danni, I guess I should have been more specific earlier - I was complaining about exactly the same thing. The pink form says "right away!" and the the packet cover says "Must be handed in as a packet." That kind of mistake annoys me. (As a person who does a lot of this kind of stuff I like to think I would never make that kind of mistake LOL).
I think it's because the pink form is used for other things which don't require all the tests/shots we have to do.
I get my BLS on May 11th and then I'm handing the whole thing in. If anyone finds out differently, please post it.

Okay, thanks for your help danni:)! I was thinking the same thing, but I guess its always best to make sure.
Is anyone else else taking classes in the summer term? Or still taking some pre-reqs? I just have to finish 2 more.... and I will complete it summer 1. Art & Psychology of Human Development. Then, I won't have to worry about anything but nursing. I enjoyed the pre-reqs and classes I took so far, but it really is better to get the pre-reqs out of the way while you can.
I've been looking on youtube and a lot of nursing students mentioned that nursing school is really stressful, hard, and time consuming. So, I'm glad I can just focus on the nursing classes in the fall. It reduces a little bit of stress for me :)
I also was looking at some schoolbags and rolling backpacks, but I won't buy it just yet. I won't get too ahead of myself. I spent too much money already lol.

That is putting it lightly . . . extremely lightly.

Maybe it's a trick to get us thinking over confusing things like we'll have to for nursing school!
