Gloucester County College Nursing Fall 2011 Hopefuls?

Published

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

So we do fast? I'll have to schedule an appt to have the blood drawn at the doctor's office anyway, so I'll have to go back and will have time to fast. I'll know Tuesday if I can have the tetorifice vaccine or not. I think I'll be a little nervous even if my test comes back negative!

Hey guys! I just got back from my doc appt. Apparently all my shots were up to date which was nice. All I had to get was the PPD. And Gardisal..... which was just a personal choice. I had blood taken and a urinalysis done. I also had a very brief physical examination. Wasn't as bad as I thought.

I also just got the Fundamentals of Nursing book and holy cow it is huge!!! Very heavy textbook! lol.

How is everyone else coming along?

Hi Danni,

I have my doc appt tomorrow before I go and register......hopefully all of my shots are up to date too, but I'm thinking that I will most likely have to get some blood work done at the very least!

Did you fast?

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of schedule I want, 2 days a week or 3 days a week.......tough to figure out with the kids and all, but hopefully I will have everything figured out for tomorrow! :)

Can't wait to see how everyone makes out the next couple of days with registering! I see that DMS is starting to register today!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter!!!!

FYI . . .I'm sure everyone did this already but I would suggest that you look at older threads . . .a lot of questions and answers to some of the things that are running through our minds!!!

Yes I did fast. I only drank water. If you haven't had blood work done in the past 6 months they will most likely need to draw blood. I think you get a better reading if you fast..... so I did. It was really simple and I'm glad I got it all done in 1 day. I just have to go back for the PPD reading Wed. I'm excited about registration tomorrow too! I know I want 2 days a week and that's what I'm striving for.

Hi Meree! Good to see you back! I had the Mantoux done this morning. I got the Fundamentals book the other day. It DOES weigh a ton, doesn't it? One of the things I've read on here is having the book unbound at someplace like Kinkos (or doing it yourself with an exacto knife) and then carrying just the chapters that we are currently working on in a binder as opposed to the whole book. I figure I'll wait to see what we're doing to decide whether that is the best option or not. But it's something to consider!

Working on my third (and last challenging) psych test today. NanaVana, are working on it?

momtofore, I also read about the unbinding of the book and putting the chapters into a binder. But.... since I'm such a nerd.... I don't want to mess up such a pretty book lol. I think I'll just carry it that way. I mean 2 days of class isn't that bad to carry that book back and forth. I'm so excited for registration tomorrow!

oh and momtofore, do you have to go back for the reading of your ppd? I go back to my doc wed to have it read. How does the GCC health center do it?

Same thing there. It needs to be read between 48 and 72 hours later. My sister volunteered yesterday to read it, lol. I told her I'd have to have them do it! I can't wait for both of my appts tomorrow. I haven't had a tetorifice booster in about 15 years and am ready for an answer!

LOL! Good to be back! I've been so busy but thank God for Springbreak!!! I can't wait until my appt at GCC on Weds. . . .I believe I have the last one . . .so I hope you guys leave me some good choices!!! That might be a good idea . . .I prob would just make photo copies! {at work of course :)}

I'm all up to date on my shots, I just have to get my urinalysis and blood work done which I'll be doing sometime this week.I'm excited for registration tomorrow, but a little nervous, I really hope I get the classes I want.Good luck to everyone:)
