If the Op is even a nurse...
Hopefully she/he is working in a foreign country, and English is not the primary language. This would be the only excuse for the inability to communicate here.
Don't know what is going on with the lack of ability to call pharmacy or look up information no matter where you are from.
So, let's not play this game, shall we not?
Oh, as a side note, Augmentin is not available in IV form only PO
If you consult a drug book/ resource, you will find that Augmentin is indeed available in Iv form.
It is always best to consult your institutional drug resources or pharmacy with any question about a medication. It is the only way to provide safe care as a nurse, to cover yourself and not cause an unneccesary incident to a patient. I would always confer with a pharmacist regarding safe dosages/practice over a nursing forum where everyone has different experiences and ideas of what is right.

I have never heard of Augmentin IV, but maybe outside the US? Glaxosmithkline apparently makes an IV form, but it is not allowed to be shipped to the US ( http://www.12buys.com/fulldescription.asp?Pdesc=Clavulanate%20potassium,%20Amoxicillin&Ptype=Brand&Pchar=Augmentin )
Definitely call your pharmacy and look up the protocol. Good luck.
For the love of God....I can see that English isn't the OP's first language (at least I certainly hope not) but they did have enough brain function to find a nursing forum and knew to question the dose since they were unfamiliar with the standard dose, but 2 things really irk the heck out of me:#1- peds doses are WEIGHT based, NOT age based- .......
AND
#2- if the OP could find his/her way to this site, why not a reputable website that can either give info on dosage based on weight so she would know what the range for normal would fall into, as well as all the other specifics, or a site that could advise on a good Pharmacology book for pediatric nurses...??
This is a prime example of what is meant by lack of critical thinking skills.
Honestly, does the OP think a nurse will tell her/him how to administer a drug to a patient they know nothing about??
I'm sure I will be flamed for this comment, but in all honesty, I am frightened at the lack of "critical thinking skills", which I believe is commonly used as a euphemism for common sense, in many people posting here who are at least claiming to be nurses.
You don't understand. It's our duty as elder statesmen of the nursing profession to hold the hands of new nurses, even if that means doing their homework/research for them. It would be like "eating our young" to suggest they look things up for themselves.

Sanford Guide, Tarascon Pharmacopeia and Epocrates all list PO forms, no IV forms. As somebody has mentioned there is a company that makes IV but not avail in US, which is where I practice.

Oh...darn it Jim, I soooo totally forgot that piece of my job description.
Well, that does it then. Solid proof I have now crossed over into the realm of "old hag dinosaur nurse who needs to retire"..
I'm just jealous of her youth, beauty & brains.
I was hoping you didn't notice.
