Just wondering if families give you gifts for the holidays? A few families brought in baked goods for all the staff last year just before Christmas- some amazing stuff since we have a very multi-cultural population.
I always give the school nurse something at my son's school because he is a frequent flyer . He is an anxious kid and gets stomach aches a lot, which are my least favorite ailment/complaint to deal with.
It just made me think about those few families who we do a TON for and wondering if you guys ever get anything from those families.

Some years more than others, all good when it happens, no biggie if not.

i get a gift here and there - i never expect anything. There is a wise man on here who once said "if you have no expectations of others you can't be disappointed by their action or inaction."

I got quite a bit from families when I worked in the Elementary Schools but in the Middle schools and High Schools it is miss and hit unless it is from the diabetic students. I just did something for students yesterday and today before the break for a diabetic student and a daily medication student. It was their birthdays! I usually focus on the campus activities and festivities and I decorate my office in the holiday spirit!

I've been working on a case that has consumed A TON of my time since the beginning of this school year. Yesterday, mom said she had to give me something. I was expecting it to be a new set of HKAFO braces, a walker, or doctor's orders adding to the frequency of catheterizations. I was going to be through with it! She reached into her car and pulled out a gift bag. I felt so bad afterwards.

I get a few things, but for nurse appreciation I get spoiled. Not expected, but definitely appreciated.

Yes, I'm convinced that generosity is a primarily a genetic disposition as opposed to the grasping weaned on a lemon types. (I'm thinking of Trump)
