Gift for Clinical Instructor

I need some good ideas for this coming week. It happens to be our last week of clinicals and also National Nurse's Day which works out perfect!

I need some ideas for a gift for our WONDERFUL clinical instructor as it's our last semester with her. Any good suggestions? I know she loves chocolate and also is an avid gardener! Thanks so much in advance!

Specializes in Neuro.

Personally, we each chipped in 5 and got our instructor a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble. We liked it because she could buy something to help her relax.

We all put in $10 and got a gift card to a spa.

Specializes in General adult inpatient psychiatry.

I bought my leadership preceptor a nice coffee mug, some chocolate truffles, a DIY manicure kit, and a pretty shade of nail polish. I'm going to put it all together in a gift bag with a thank you card.

avid gardner=a beautiful potted flowering plant/hanging basket that grows well in your area. they can usually be picked up at lowes or home depot or even wally world for not too much money (i saw some hanging baskets in the lowes sunday ad.) for chocolate, some homemade brownies.

we're actually not allowed to give gifts to any instructor, unless it's something homemade like cookies, brownies, etc.

Specializes in Telemetry.

If I am not graduating, I would not give a clinical instructor a gift. Well..that is thwe way I see it for now.

Specializes in Medical ICU, Orthopedics.

We gave our clinical instructor some potted mums. There are beautiful flowers out now because mother's day is coming up!

oops I can't spell gardener,

If I am not graduating, I would not give a clinical instructor a gift. Well..that is thwe way I see it for now.

HAHA! :lol2:

How about a "Thank You" card? Seriously, its her job... There is no need to give her something extravagant.

We didn't get her anything "nursing"-related because she has been a nurse for awhile so we figured she probably has all sorts of stuff. Instead, we took a group picture (with her) at the hospital during the second-to-last week of clinical and told her that someone from the college of nursing was making a scrap book of "nursing"-related things. All of us then chipped in $5 which bought a nice picture frame (and my friend decorated it), a coffee mug and a $15 gift card to Starbucks. She loved everything :)

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

That is great what some of you have done. I don't know if I will ever chip in on something again. I am not in NS until August, but I wanted to do something for my A and P teacher because he was about the best professor I have ever had. The kind you wish you could take to all your classes as your teacher. I wanted to show my appreciation and plan something great for him. Our last day of class after Finals we were having a pot luck, so I decided to get him a Ice Cream cake and a GC to a local restaurant for him and his wife, he had talked about wanting to try it but they were to expensive. So when word got out what I was planning everyone said they wanted in on the action and they would chip in. So instead of getting a 50 dollar GC like I planned I got a 75 dollar one (most entree's were in the 30 dollar range), I got the cake which was about 30 dollars for the Half Sheet Ice cream cake at DQ and a card, so everyone wanted to pass around the card before class and before he got there and told me they would chip in after class.

So everyone signed the card, we gave him the gift and like 3 people actually chipped in. a few bucks each, I think I collected like 10 bucks and a handful of change :stone

Seriously I was ******, I was going to get him the stuff anyway, not as much but was going to do it, but everyone got credit for it by signing the card and then bailed. Totally messed up.

So nope, I am selfish from now on if I do anything LOL.

Anyway, I have got some great idea now though if I have a good nursing teacher.

16 of us chipped in and got her a gift card to a fancy pants restaurant she had been wanting to go to. She was in tears when she opened the card.
