Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Published

Although, It says for students Everyone is welcome.

A few years ago I lost a significant amount of weight and increased my health by walking/running. I was involved with a support thread on another board. We shared our stats each week, our ups, and our downs. It was so helpful for me to be accountable for my actiions and numbers. Well, I was doing good, but had a surprise pregnancy now he is 2, and I am back where I was and then some.

With the unique considerations that come from fitting excercise and a healthy diet in during NS/and pre- reqs, I thought it might be nice to be able to share and support each other because we know better than anyone else the stress of time management and pressure of keeping our grades up.

I know that NS can be strenuous physically and I want to get in shape or at least a head start for this fall

Would anyone else like to join me?

Hi everyone! I hope its not to late to join your group. I could use the support. I'm in my second semester of nursing school and over the course of doing prereq's I have put on about 25 lbs. I have to run for now but will post later. Thanks Stacy

Down 1lb. but not really cause I 1.5 last week. So still have .5 to go to be where I was 2 weeks ago. Total so far down 7lbs from start of challege tho...... I guess ok but I just don't fell it........ I'm in a FUNK.

Hang in there Tracylvn! It can be very frustrating with all the stress, work, kids (if you have them), husband (if you have 1)... life in general.

Just remember its like school is 1 class at a time and you get there. Well, 1 lb at a time and you will get there. :icon_hug:

Wow, I've kind of been M.I.A. sorry about that. First of all, congrats to everyone that got into NS and welcome to all the 'newbies'. I hope everyone has been doing great and had a fabulous Mother's day. I've been getting better little by little. Yesterday was kind of crappy, it would have benn (technically is) our 6th anniversary so I was a little down. Other than that I'm pretty alright. I lost only 1 other pound (still have 23 left to go) It's coming off slow but hopefully that means I'll keep it off. How is everyone else doing?:redpinkhe

Fuucan,

That's a loaded question for me today. My husband and I got in this horrible fight yesterday (mother's day of all days)... it happens every year because he hates his mother so he takes it out on me. I'm getting very tired of it. :banghead:

On the upside. I lost 1 pound. 11 pounds down.... 29 more to go.

Fuucan hang in there. It does get easier. I've been through a separation and divorce myself. :icon_hug:

Sorry to hear that Nightbloom.......

I am up 2lbs (probly due to TOM). I am going to step things up this week and give it my all, don't think I have been doing the best I can since we started this.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Sorry I have been gone so long. I have fallen off the wagon, and gained 2 lbs.

Stress!! but it's over now. I'm ready to start fresh and put all my effort into it.

I pm'd maine and I have not heard from her. I hope that she is ok. I asked her if she still wanted to do the stats.

Do you all still want to have our weekly stats posted? If so then go ahead and pm me and I wll start posting them on Mondays again.

I did not do well on my ANP 2 final but I had a 98.5 going into it so, I still got an A. I got A's in my other 3 co req classes too. So I am happy. All the stress and 2 lbs was worth it.

Now, begins the daily mailbox vigil. I should hear something between now and the first part of June. I hope it is sooner, rather than later.

I hope everyone is doing great!

Wishn, Hang in there! I'm praying for us all to get in.... although I don't know if I'm going to get in at this point. 2 As and 2 Bs for my prereqs, with an 85 on the TEAS test... I may not get in. I did apply for the LPN and the RN program though. I figure if I at least get into the LPN program, I can transition after my first year.

I've lost 3 pounds this week at this week's weigh in.... so for Monday's count - 3 pounds, down a total of 14 lbs since we started, 26 more pounds to go until September goal, and 56 lbs to go until my actual total goal weight.

good luck on everyone's tests and i hope you all get acceptance letters!

my nursing orientation was yesterday and i have so much to get done this summer before nursing school in the fall, but i'm very excited!!!! i have to get a physical done in the next couple weeks, which is extra motivation for me to loose some extra poundage before they fill out my physical form, just because i know i feel better with the number being smaller!

my orientation is june 17th...what all did they tell you that you had to get done??
