Although, It says for students Everyone is welcome.
A few years ago I lost a significant amount of weight and increased my health by walking/running. I was involved with a support thread on another board. We shared our stats each week, our ups, and our downs. It was so helpful for me to be accountable for my actiions and numbers. Well, I was doing good, but had a surprise pregnancy now he is 2, and I am back where I was and then some.
With the unique considerations that come from fitting excercise and a healthy diet in during NS/and pre- reqs, I thought it might be nice to be able to share and support each other because we know better than anyone else the stress of time management and pressure of keeping our grades up.
I know that NS can be strenuous physically and I want to get in shape or at least a head start for this fall
Would anyone else like to join me?
I would love to join this group please! A few years ago I lost a good amount of weight using WW. Then I started my pre-reqs for nursing school and it has all gone downhill from there.
I got accepted to NS (yeah me) and start my BSN program at the end of September. I need to get myself in better shape to handle what is to come. I've been taking an EMT class for the past two months and haven't gone to the gym once since I started.
I would love to have the accountability and support that something like this provides. So if it's OK, I'd like to join. What information should I provide?
Thanks!
Welcome Crazyframes!
I have found that I am losing weight faster now because I feel I am accountable moreso than doing it without everyone here.
Lost 1 pound this week. Down 15 pounds total so far. I will probably gain it back this weekend since I will be off of WW this weekend. A weekend without any of my 4 kids... yay! I may just bug the babysitter though. I've never been without my kids.
I got my letter...I"M IN!!!! I start the PT ASN class in Logansport August 2008!
I'm smiling from ear to ear. My 2 yr old thought I was nuts when I came back from the mailbox! LOL! I was so giddy!!!
Welcome crazyframes and great job on the weight loss Nightbloom you are doing so good!
I have not done so well. I have not been counting points this week. So I don't know how well I'll do. I need to get going again. It's so hard for me after I slip. But, thinking about getting a spongebath from a fellow student, that gives me a lot!!!! of inspiration!
LOL!
Busy evening ahead, middle daughter (13) is in a traveling softball team and has a tournament a few towns away and my youngest dd (5) is graduating pre school tonight. So not much time to sit and enjoy my news. But, that is ok. I couldn't be anymore psyched!
Have a great weekend everyone!!
Wecome Crazyframes.
Congrats Wish.
TGIF everyone.....
I hope everyone has a good weekend. I have not been so good this past week. I have lost my motivation. Not to mention so confused as to wich route to take for RN program. I was set on ISU distant learning LVN-BSN program, not thinking about going to local private 18 month ADN program that included pre-rec's.....I JUST DON'T KNOW.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'll be "officially" starting on back on WW and the gym next week so I'll start posting my results the following Monday. I have a feeling the accountability will be a big benefit for me as well.
Congrats on the acceptances. Such wonderful news, isn't it? I was riding high for a week :)
Have a happy holiday weekend all!
Good Morning Ladies!
I've missed you all, and this thread. Between finals and a crisis, my online time was drastically minimized - my eating on the other hand was drastically maximized. I've gained back the 4 pounds that I had lost, so I'm starting all over again. But, everything is under control now so I'm ready to get back on track.
Summer semester starts this week and I'm taking micro, but it's my only class. This will be my lightest semester ever, so I should be able to manage. Microscopes and I have never gotten along well, so I'm really glad I was able to get everything else out of the way so I can only concentrate on this.
My CNA program finishes up this week and I start working in the hospital next Monday. This will be great - while the hospital does make opportunities for us to work as sitters while we're training so we make some income, having a real, dependable paycheck again will be great.
As for the crisis, one of DH's closest friends is dying (CA) and had a very difficult few weeks. It's taken a lot of time and energy, and the emotional toll on my sweet DH has been huge. He's alone, so we all are helping to care for him and keep him comfortable. I'm sure glad I took that CNA class, because I'm the one who's there for anything close to clinical - dressing changes, ADL's, pain meds Q2H, colostomy and urostomy care, draining the fluid in one of this lungs (they sent him home with this cool drain in place - when he's SOB, we essentially suction the fluid out - very amazing to be able to do at home!), and just being there. He wants to stay at home as long as he can, so we're trying to support that and it's a lot of work! He's doing well now, and the pain management folks have gotten him much, much more comfortable, so things are better.
Thank you all for the kind PM's. You guys are great! When things get overwhelming, it's just nice to know someone else on the planet cares. I haven't read through all the posts yet, but it sounds like everyone is doing really well! I'm ready to catch up!
Happy Memorial Day everyone!!! I hope everyone is having some quality time with their loved ones :)
Welcome back Maine! I'm sorry you have been having such a rough go lately. My thoughts and prayers are with your friend.
If you want your stats posted this week give me a pm, I cleaned out my inbox so there is lots of room for all those pms with all those big numbers!!!
If I counted right (and I may not have) We have only 14 weeks left before September 1st! I still have 22 lbs to go. It is doable. But...I really need to get focused.
Ok..everyone join me in saying "I can do this, I can do this" over and over until it sinks in. LOL!!!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday everyone!!

Hi all,
I'm a newcomer to your weight loss group. And, like so many of you, I would reallly appreciate the weight loss support and ideas (and especially ideas for alternatives to stress eating.) I really identify with the poster who had talked about life stresses and then said, "cooki--." Mine sounds more like "potato chi-" but the chain reaction is very much the same.
Well, I never lost weight on my own, so I am a little scared of the process. Years ago I tried to lose weight--once on my own, (and once with Weight Watchers) and, I would get terrible headaches. Perhaps I wasn't eating enough all day, I don't know. And, despite the headaches, I never lost a lb. (Gorging at night, doesn't help,,I know.)
But, after finding this group on line, I went right out and purchased a scale. Haven't owned one in 20 years.

Well, I just got off the scale and I could have cried. 187 lbs. No wonder I never went out and bought a scale before now.
So, I really need the encouragement. And, too, what people do with their stress triggers. Surprisingly, I don't eat a lot at meals but it's the other times when I really make up for this.
Well, thanks all for listening. And, I hope all is well with your own weight loss situations.
I would love to hear everyone else's weight loss situation and how they are coping. Losing weight with a skinny, pasta loving, husband can be brutal.
But, I'm ready to do it!!

MAINE!!! Glad to have ya back.
Hi and howdy ho to everyone old and new. I hope you all had a great holiday weekend. I have no clue what my weight is this week. Tomorrow is my birthday and this weekend I have been eating crap like it's going out of style. You know the bad part, I don't give a flying monkey. I'll weigh in on Thursday and see what kind of damage I've done.
Me too, I've substituted sex for stress eating and it seems to work out, plus it burns more calories. Ok, I'm just kidding but I would suppose theoretically it would work out. One thing that has helped with the Oreo attacks have been great friends both here and in the 'real' world. I try running my mouth more instead of just chewing.
Well, I hope so far everyone that has been taking summer classes are doing alright and a huge congrats to everyone who got into NS. I'll try not to be such a stranger. :redpinkhe
I have not done so hot at all the past few weeks, I have gained all I lost back except for 2 lbs.
I got back on track today and woke up at 6am and went on a 30 min walk before getting ready for work. Then walk this afternoon. pedometer total for the day is 4.94 mi and 10,440 steps and 610cal burned. Tomorrow is a early day I have leave the house by 7am so will not be able to walk before work but I will do a mini workout video from sparkpeople.com and then walk after dinner tomorrow.
I'M WITH YOU WISH "WE CAN DO THIS, WE CAN DO THIS".
