Getting in shape/Losing weight in pre-nursing/NS support thread

Published

Although, It says for students Everyone is welcome.

A few years ago I lost a significant amount of weight and increased my health by walking/running. I was involved with a support thread on another board. We shared our stats each week, our ups, and our downs. It was so helpful for me to be accountable for my actiions and numbers. Well, I was doing good, but had a surprise pregnancy now he is 2, and I am back where I was and then some.

With the unique considerations that come from fitting excercise and a healthy diet in during NS/and pre- reqs, I thought it might be nice to be able to share and support each other because we know better than anyone else the stress of time management and pressure of keeping our grades up.

I know that NS can be strenuous physically and I want to get in shape or at least a head start for this fall

Would anyone else like to join me?

Oh my goodness, what a horrible week.

I did pretty good with my food ( except for an 'incident' with some Oreos) but I have had so much major drama going on that the stress levels are taking their toll. Not only can I not quite my job but I have to get another one to make ends meet and go to school at nights, so now I work 7 days a week and go to school 4 nights. So that means it's cut into my gym time, I only got 45 minutes in this week and that looks like it's going to be the end of it. Plus I gained a pound and a half, I'm hoping that's just from my period but it's highly unlikely. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and I hope you all had a better week than I did.

I'm sorry you are so stressed out. It has to be really hard to deal with a job so stressfull. You have so much on your plate right now, it ok to feel overwhelmed. I'm sending peaceful vibes your way. I hope things improve for you. And, feel free to vent to us, that is what we are here for. Definately!

Fuuchan I hope you have a better week at work. I know it is so hard to try to get workouts in. Some times I can only squeeze 5 or 10 mins in here or there a few times through out the day, they all add up. We are always here for you to vent.

I hope everyone has a good week. Let Allie be our motivation!!!!!! We can do this.........

Fuuchan,

I wish you didn't feel so stressed or have a job that is so stressful. You can vent anytime you want. We are here to support each other.

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for handling stress that they could share with us. As soon as I get stressed I reach for the first thing close to me to eat. I want to try something else. People always suggest exercise but it doesn't always work.

Just remember we are your friends we are hear to listen and her to be supportive. What ever you need just let us know.

Thank guys so much! I can't complain about work that much, I think it's more life that's got me stressed. My (soon to be) ex left me in a big hole to go be with his new girlfriend in Wisconsin and canceled our son's insurance, hence the working two jobs.

It also doesn't help to know she's less 'fluffier' than I am but that's another story.

Exercise does not relive stress I don't care what anyone says, it adds to it in my case. Usually Taco Bell works wonders but I'm trying to steer clear so if anyone has any pointers, please help. ETOH I suppose is an option but I was thinking of something along the lines of free.

I'm so sorry to hear that (((Fuuchan))). I went through simular. But don't think that him leaving you for someone fluffier that you is in any way your fault.....It is not you could be a size 6 even a 4 and he was gonna wonder off he was gonna do it..... I struggled for the longest with that when my ex left me for someone else. I wish there was an easy fix for de-stressing but I have yet to find it.... If someone knows of one please let us all into the loop... But again we are here for you. You can pm me anytime you want if you want to talk.....or if you want to add me to messenger.

I weight loss for last week was 0!!! I can totally relate to the stress....my husband just doesnt understand the things that i do on a daily basis and then i come home and he just cant understand why everything is not so clean you could eat off the floor and y the kids arent listening....Im like Please lay off of me i am not superwoman!! he is like well woman do it everyday...im like and you dont think that they are stressed out....at this pt im like i give up

See, this is what I'm saying. I get so angry when someone says a person is overweight just because they have no willpower or they're a slob or the hundreds of other bogus and hurtful reasons people come up with. I'm not saying it's not my fault that I'm in the condition I'm in but there is more to it than I just couldn't put down the Snickers. I know we all must be dealing with craptacular amounts of stress and that plays a big role in it. I'm glad we're all here for each other and if no one else understand the uniqure pressures of life and NS, then at least we do. When someone is just ugly to me, I imagine myself giving them a Foley...and missing a couple of times. :smokin:

I lost 1lb last week!

And, I haven't eaten much since Sunday morning. I was frying shrimp on saturday night for my boyfriend and we had an accident and got hot oil on both of us. We both have 2nd degree burns. So, I've been nauseous since it happened, and I haven't eaten very much. Not that this is healthy, and i feel like the burns have taken a lot of energy out of me, and I haven't exercised this week so far!

Good luck to everyone this week!

I lost 1 lb. this past week. I didn't count points this past week and I need to work on that better, but I did get the exercise in.

I'm sorry to hear about the husband leaving for the less fluffy girlfriend. You can feel free to PM me. I've been through a similar situation. I was a divorce attorney for years before I got out of it... I did my own divorce when he left me for the less fluffy girlfriend. Time really does heal the wounds. I'm remarried, have had a second child and I'm now a lot less fluffy than his new wife. :w00t:
