Hello All-
I have just started looking into applying to Nursing Schools. I have a long way to go but I wanted to get the process started as soon as possible. I am VERY interested in NYU Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2010 and I have a few questions. I would love feedback from anyone who was accepted into the program or planning on applying.
1. I graduated undergrad in business with a mere 2.8 GPA. If I get A's in all my prerequisites what are my chances of getting into NYU Accelerated Program? (My first year of college before I transferred I had a 3.3 GPA- don't know if this even makes a difference). What else can I do to increase my chances of getting accepted?
2. Is it more advantageous to apply for spring semester over fall semester?
3. I am very interested in later utilizing my Business degree/background with Nursing. What are my options?
4. I received a C in Statistic from undergrad- should I just retake the course?
Hope to hear from you guys soon.
Thanks!
Hey congrats ijennyi.
I am so excited, I am going into the city tomorrow morning to look at apartments downtown in the financial district. I am from NJ and my sister lives in the city and actually has an interview at NYU tomorrow for a job so I will be going there to ask questions and figure more out about NYU housing and off campus housing. I have a few potential roommates but non of them are in school they just all live and work in the city, but nothing is set in stone. Are you looking to live with a roommate? What type of roommate are you (Clean, loud, partier, etc.)? What is your price range for apartments?
Congrats to everyone that was accepted, I look forward to meeting you all in the fall. For those looking to find a place to live here is a resource:

They recently did their issue on apartment hunting in the 5 boroughs and you can read up about it on their website. By no means are these the cheapest apartments you can find but its a good start to gauge how much each neighborhood is charging and if you simply have no time to do the detective work you might just need to use this guide. If you don't have much money to spare your best bets are bushwick-sunset park brooklyn or Upper manhattan in the 100's. If you have the time, craigslist is the best source i have found to find apartments on the cheap.
Hey Kirham - SUNY offers a TON of classes online - I'm not sure if it's too late to sign up for the semester, but check out www.sln.suny.edu. They list all the online courses offered by every SUNY school in the state, and the rates are super-low if you are in-state. I took a Developmental Psych course through them earlier this year.
Mem - - how did you find the Devel Psych course? who was it with? hard to Ace? etc
sorry for the sidetrack, I dont have enuf posts to send a PM

Hey guys!
Can I ask a question for those who got in? Do you have an idea on what counts a bit more for deciding who gets into the program. I dont have such a great GPA for my BA (2.5) but I am a B student for my pre reqs and I have been working at Planned Parenthood of NYC for 4 yrs as a HIV counselor. I am a bit nervous that I dont have great credentials. Any advice would be great.
Thanks and congrats on those who got it :-)
