Getting into NYU Accelerated Nursing Program

Published

Hello All-

I have just started looking into applying to Nursing Schools. I have a long way to go but I wanted to get the process started as soon as possible. I am VERY interested in NYU Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2010 and I have a few questions. I would love feedback from anyone who was accepted into the program or planning on applying.

1. I graduated undergrad in business with a mere 2.8 GPA. If I get A's in all my prerequisites what are my chances of getting into NYU Accelerated Program? (My first year of college before I transferred I had a 3.3 GPA- don't know if this even makes a difference). What else can I do to increase my chances of getting accepted?

2. Is it more advantageous to apply for spring semester over fall semester?

3. I am very interested in later utilizing my Business degree/background with Nursing. What are my options?

4. I received a C in Statistic from undergrad- should I just retake the course?

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I'm from Houston but am looking into the 15 month accelerated program. Is the 3.0 GPA a combination of your undergrad GPA + pre-reqs for the program? Or just the undergrad GPA?

Thanks for your help in advance! :)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking into the 15 month program for fall 2011 and was wondering if many of you applied with pre requisites still incomplete? I will be in the middle of my last three (ap2, micro and chem) when my app goes in.

My undergrad gpa is 3.97 and I have good recommendations, but am just nervous that having three major science courses left when applying will hurt my chances? My completed pre requisites are strong, except for statistics, where I got a C.

Nervous! Good luck everyone!

Yes. I'm applying for Jan. 2011.

You can apply with pre-reqs incomplete. I'm entering the program this fall and I was still working on a&p 2 and lifespan when I applied. as long as you can have them complete by the time you enter, you're good! but if u cant, they could still accept you, but you'd spend an additional semester finishing up the pre-reqs and enter the next accelerated cohort.

Does anyone know what a typical schedule would be during the week for NYU's 15 month program? Also anyone applying for Jan 2011?? =P

Hi there! I'm in my last semester at University of Florida and I'm currently working on my application for January 2011! Are you applying for this cohort too?

Rachel

I am, I'm really excited to finish up my pre-reqs (chem and nutrition) so I can apply soon. I'm a little worried about the cost of the program, but I've heard the least amount of disturbing stuff about this program. The posts about Pace just freaked me out despite it being my first choice a year ago. Anyone trying to take Chem at BMCC or LaGuardia in the spring?

Did anyone applying for the ABSN at NYU for Spring 2011 hear from admissions yet? I'm waiting anxiously!

Hey Ash, I submitted my application in September and still haven't heard a thing! I've been checking my e-mail constantly. I wish they would tell us already!! Good luck to you :)

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

Do they notify us by email? I was under the impression that they notify by mail. I'm hoping to find out soon!

Ash,

When I submitted my application, I got a letter saying that all communications, including the decision letter, would be by e-mail. I'm still checking my actual mailbox too though lol.

-Rachel

Hmmm, ok. I never got a letter in the mailing indicating that. Maybe I should call them and ask? I know my application was complete because I called twice just to make sure they received everything, but I haven't gotten any mail or emails from them at all.

I didn't get any communication from NYU after I applied- until I got the acceptance letter in the mail today! I submitted my application on the 1st of October, so if you submitted for early decision it'll probably be coming soon!

Good luck!
