Ok I am in NW ohio. I am 35 and I have been an LPN for 5yrs now, all in LTC. First in geriatrics and now with MRDD. I have been married to the perfect man for 20 yrs in Jan. We have 2 boys the oldest is 19 and lives with his girlfriend and my grandson who is now 2and1/2 months old. My youngest is 16 and lives here at home he is physically and mentally handicapped but an angel none the less. Now for a recipe..........Simple pasta alfredo: Soften together 2TBS of butter with 1pkg cream cheese add 1/2c of parmesan cheese and enough milk to make it the consistency you prefer toss with cooked pasta. This and a simple salad and my family is happy. Who is next???

Hi.. I worked in Cleve at Univ Hosp for 15 yrs and then took a travel position in Cali and have been here for 2 yrs. If anyone needs info/advice on Cali let me know.

I just wanted to comment on how very nice the people are that I have met from your state...I met a friend online who lives in a small town called Circleville...I am trying to talk her into going to nursing school because she is perfect for the profession...right now she is focusing on her work with animals so that is a blessing as well. I am originally from Kansas City but I now live in Indiana and I would like to move to OH or IL...we shall see.

Thanks so much for all of words or encouragement. Yes, I know that the world of nursing is "in the pit" right now, but I still really love patient care. I know I can make a difference when someone is in pain, needs help with a simple ADL, or just needs an ear for a problem or concern. I have no illusions regarding corporate concerns, I have no illusions regarding the expectations of a HN,

they all want a warm body to fill a space as cheaply as possible. to get the job done and never have an opinion or voice a concern regarding lack of staff, poor equiptment, mandated overtime, or problems with pharmacy and drugs. I know all of this, yet I cannot really see myself doing anything else but nursing. So I guess I am in for yet another attempt at the brass ring, that is a job that lets me do good patient care, does not cover me over with paper work, lets me have a schedule I can live with for family concerns, and pays a decent rate. Is this asking too much? I will let you guys know. The area of choice so far is southeastern Ohio. I have family in Parkersburg, WV. A drive to Marietta, or even Columbus would not be too far. I know there are several places in between, so I will let you know how my search is going .

Once again, thanks for the words of encouragement .

Well Im 22 and in nursing school.I have 8 more months left.I have 2 boys, 4 and 6.I cook on the weekends and freeze it for the next week.Ill have to come back with a recipe.........

Barb I have alot of friends in Circleville. I like it there. Life is much slower paced than in Columbus. I love the pumpkin show too!

Hello all. I am your neighbor and I love this board. I am in the process of obtaining my license in Ohio. Are there jobs for an RN, over 55 but can still cut the mustard. I really need a change. I have done mostly Med/Surg, have tele, psych, peds, ortho and post op experience. Need an honest answer. Is age the most important factor there or does experience count? Any replies would be great. Have a great day all.

Hi Barefootlady. I worked with a wonderful nurse who was in her late sixties...she was one of the best nurses i ever met. learned a lot from her..good luck. deb

Hello to all,

I am Heather and have worked in LTC since 1996. I have 3 boys ages 8, 7 years old and 18 months old. I am currently online to obtain by BSN through University of Phoenix. I love to learn new things and meet new people, often hard to do with the kids work and school. I have also had experience in home health, and allergry and immunology.

As for recipes here is a simple but flavorful pasta dish......

I can of italian diced tomatoes, any type of pasta, parm cheese.....

cook pasta drain toss in tomatoes and top with cheese.

Easy and fast two things nurses love after working 12 hours!:)
